Are you planning on attending the 2006 Shootout, and if so, which class are you aiming to be in

I should be there in the street stock class unless I run into a little money, then I'll be in Mod 1.

Then again, that's assuming that I can get the time off work to be there. I made it last year, but this year may not allow me. I'll just have to wait and see. If I can get the time off, I'll be there.

As long as I can get off work I'll be there, running in either Outlaw V8 or the bracket class.

That's assuming that I can find a job. :(

Well, it was made official today. I won't be able to attend this year's shootout.

Duty calls. I will be on 24 hour recall starting on October 1st. This means that I cannot attend at all. I will be there in spirit though.

Not to take away from Carlisle, but the Shootout is way bigger than Carlisle. If you take away the 30 or so people who come from the NY/NJ/PA area, you really don't have that many at Carlisle at all and it's pretty much the same crowd every year.

Come to the Shootout and you will MEET 10x as many new people and you will not only get to SEE some other cool SC's (that you haven't seen before) but you'll get a chance to see them run. That should be a treat in and of itself.

If you don't attend a Shootout before selling your SC you will be doing the car a big injustice. ;) Besides, David Neibert still thinks you dont' exist. :D

Damon, I understand that since Carlisle is practically in your backyard, it would be hard to pass up. Also, the go carts cannot be beat at Carlisle.

But having attended both events for many years, I can honestly say that I could pass on Carlisle if there was only one event I could attend. Plus, there are some people that only attend the Shootout, that you would never be able to meet at Carlisle.

land with Pro-Street again.

And while I am on the subject of who or what
exist.I keep hearing about big-block powered
SC Bird stories, and how light and fast they are.
BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY AT THE TRACK.
I don't know if they could even compete in a
stock SC BIRD class, let alone Pro-Mod.
I think they would get spanked in any 06 Shootout
class.

Excuses used not to show up at the shootouts so far.

1. My little girl is getting married.

2. My son is getting married.

3. I am so important.I cant take a couple days off work
,because the USA will fail if I do.

4.I have a ball & chain on my ankle,(normaly called a baby,
house apes,porch monky's,ect.).

5. My SC is not running good enough,so I am not going.

6. I did not know that there was any part of the U.S.A. that
exits 100 miles west of the EAST COAST .

7. I did not know that there was any part of the U.S.A. that

8. I have Jury duty.

9. going to the shootout will cut into my beer budget.

I see the two events as separate but equal. Many of the S/C guys I know(way less then Dave), dont see their cars as track worthy and many dont see them as show worthy. I dont see my bird as either, but I dont attend these events as anything more than an opportunity to ingrain myself into a community. This will be my first Shootout but I have heard enough good stories, that I just have to attend. Carlisle was a blast. Just seeing the repairs being done to S/C's and others in the parking lot with Dave spending hours trying to tune was well worth the trip.
My hope is to have my first S/C for the Shootout, but irregardless, my 4.6 will be there. (Think I will fill the trunk with S/C parts, might make a few bucks)

If this is what you want to see, then the Shootout is definitely the place. I've never seen so many axle being changed at on time in my life. Hopefully, there won't be as much carnage as last year.

Look forward to seeing all the same folks, and some great new ones as well. if you are still on the fence about wether to go or not, just jump off and get yourself there, you won't regret it one bit.

Geez, Randy. You've really got a way with words. You make it sound so much better than I'm allowed to! :D

It just so happens that every now and again, I'm stuck within 50 miles. There's no getting around it. And it just happens to fall at the same time the shootout does this year. I wouldn't even be able to attend it at our local track, which is about 70 miles away.

Smitty,
You got that new MP unit on yet???? You should have a lot of fun with that at yhis year's shootout!

Quik95SC
01-05-2006, 10:51 AM
Sam,
Sorry to here about your Military Commitments getting in the way, but I applaud your sacrifice. I remember missing several major events, both family and fun while I was in stationed in Korea twice.

No my MPIII is still sitting in the garage. Didn't see any point being in a hurry since it won't don't me much good with the TB, MAF, Intake, Underdrive pulley, fuel pump, and Chip, still being stock. I did get the MAF (80mm), and 10% Jackshaft pulley, as well as Intercooler fan for Christmas, so I can put those on at the same time.

But My wife is having knee surgery 1 Feb and I was promised I could get it all put together during her recovery period( no other honey do list!!)

Also picked up a set on MT ET Drags (almost new) for $100.00 over the early winter, so with the 15" LX Wheels I picked up at the last shootout I will be set with those as well. Looking forward to our track opening up in Late Feb or early March here, so I can get a lot of runs in for launching practice (only 8th mile track).

Take care and hope to meet up with you again soon!

Well, I will be there for sure, with or without the second half. Although she seemed kind of interested in going and meeting some new people. Im sure she would have a good time too.

Now as far as my car gos, I have quit a few things I need to get done before the shootout. First off is getting the body all straightened out, which should be done by the end of the month. And Im not sure if im going to be installing my heads and cam package this year or not. But im sure someone will push me in to doing so.

So as far as which class Ill be running in, Im not real sure yet.

Maybe Ill have to find a couple guys in a few months that live close by, that knows whats going on in a cam swap, because Im not too sure.

In any event Ill be there, and meet up with some more sc enthusiasts like myself.

See ya Mike

Prediction; The S Stock class top 4 will run faster than Mod I & most
of Mod II class. :p

I will be running some old Jim Demmett parts. I fix up to work better.
So this is the REAL DEAL.Army of S Stock class beatin up on the
Mod I (because they are slow)& ModII classes (because they are slow
and will be breaking down). :) :p

I will also make a prediction of that the S Stock cars will out run
most of the Pro-Street & V-8 (trailor queen) class's, because they
will break down and get a DNF for the race.

The all NEW ,Super Stock class, The king class of the 2006 shootout!!

Randy,

I'll just be happy to get thru the entire 2006 Shootout without breaking something. As you can see from my track record...that doesn't usually happen.

2003 pulled a rocker stud and bent a valve during the dyno competition.
2004 clogged cat and non functional nitrous system.
2005 blown HG on second pass of time trials.

I am planning on coming this year also. Heck, it's 650 miles on the nose according to several mapping programs I checked, so I guess I either show up or forfeit my deposit. Hmmm, touch choice.

Some of us don't need big cams, ported heads, fancy pistons & rods
to go fast. Just a well prepped stock long block to break into

You obviously have not fixed the exhaust on your big truck yet.
With your train of thought your still breathing carbon-monoxide. :)

This is funny as hell. We plan on going but it depends on a few things yet. I hope to run Pro street or Mod 2. It depends on which one is running the best at the time. Diane's red SC is quick maybe she will run? I think she might. I am hoping we can run side by side! She has a quick SC. If she beat's me I quit.
I mostly want to meet Damon, Randy B, David N, Kurt, Kevin L, Radium David, I have met a lot of you at Carlisle. Still to many to mention. We hope we can finally make a shoot out as members. Dying to meet everyone. We will need to leave now to get there by the time it starts:rolleyes: I am slowing down some. Hope to drink plenty of beer! Damon I like Samuel Adams...Nice and cold but I will drink whatever brand you bring. Be there! I will bring plenty of Ice for the beer and the intercoolers.
