Odd starting issue

ok, so got the new battery in, and she fired up, no problem. moved her around the driveway, did a lap around the block, no issues. get her home and park her. go to fire her up again tonight. and just a click of the fender solonoid, How do you know if that starter solonoid/relay is toast? I'm gonna go grab one tommorow, and see what that does... but is there a way I can know for sure? The other thing is, I took the starter off the car, and grounded it on the crossmember, and it spun no problem. but when its bolted up, it wont spin. Last time i was having this problem, i just replaced that little spade connector and it worked fine.

PS- battery isn't dead. Just to be sure i tried to jumpstart it too.

Thanks for any assistance...

I am having this problem. Mine turned out to be the starter itself. There were some flat spots on the brushes I guess, and when you tried to crank it on them it wouldnt work. I confirmed it was the starter by having my bro turn the key while I whacked the starter with a mallet. Cranked after that.
