this doesnt seem to really make sense. theres a round hole on car and oval hoel on air box. to me it would make more sense to take this box off and just have the bare K&N exposed.
im sure stupid queston but just making sure it not on there for a reason :P

Box or no Box ?

also looks liek someone used a peice of dryer vent to scoop the air into the air box... is there something better that can be used to direct the air better ?

Someone correct me if I am wrong. But that isn't a stock air box. The stock air box has the oval and 3 bolt holes that match up to the three holes in the first picture.

That looks like the old SuperCoupePerformance.com intake box. I had that setup years ago but it was a real pain in the ~~~ to get the box on and in location so I just ran mine with an open K&N cone. You could get out a sawzall and cut the opening bigger to match the box, or you could just leave it, or get a new intake, or run an open cone, or build a heat seperator shield and run the open cone......

I'd ditch the box personally.
