I am looking to build up a supercoupe bottom end, but am needing one with the steel crank. Were these in 90 models?? I read the tech specs on here and they show steel from 91 up?? thanks

Cast cranks were only in production early in the '89MY. I've never personally come across one. You should be able to tell the difference between a cast and a forged unit by the parting line. A cast crank will have a thin sharp parting line. A forged unit will have a wider more rounded parting line.

How strong are the sc steel cranks??? Are they stronger than the 4.2 cast steel? I am wanting to build a turbo v6 from a sc shortblock and make serious power 700-800 hp or so. There are some 4.2 cranks making almost 600 rwhp now, but I figured the steel would be stronger?
