After careful consideration, me and the buyer of my 91 5speed SC have come to a deal, where i get my car back for fixing his 90 N/A Bird ... now, this SC is going to have an entire rebuild kickin, from power train, to drive train, to interior ... then it may get sold, or it may get kept .... i intend on having a running thread about the status of the car, and what is in the works .... since my last post, i have done all kinds of stuff, mainly attend classes for an AS degree in Automotive Service Management .... with one automotive class left, which is Advanced Engine Performance, i have a 3.94 GPA ... all As in the auto classes, and a B in my english comp class ... i will answer questions to the best of my abilities, but realize there is stuff i don't know .... I work at a shop two blocks from my house, and am on the way to being an ASE Certified Mechanic ....of course, i know the older RWD Fords better than most others, but they are really all the same, with different names on them ... im not a new SC owner, but i got my old one back!

How about considering joining the SCCoA and having your rebuild documented and published in the soon to be re-started Chargin' Thunder Club Newsletter?

yes, i will be doing the rebuild myself, as far as joining SCCoA, I'm not 100% sure im going to keep it, but the club can definitely cover it in the newsletter, if you want ...

i'm new to te group here. i own an 89xr7 5spd. it has been a really trying experience owning this car. i bought it from my friend who was the second owner. apparently the original owner had no clue how to maintain the car as my friend replaced the engine in it and i've had more than my fair share of problems with it. i'm hoping to find some people near me to become friends with similar cars. i greatly appreciate any tips or advice in helping make my cougar what it should be. i too am ready to go for mechanic certification as im tired of getting screwed every time i need something done. it cost me almost $500 to have new power steering lines put in. anyhow i'm chris, i live in hanover pa. hope to hear from people. THANKS

I'm willing to publish just about anything people might enjoy. My comment on joining the club was more related to thinking you would want to actually SEE the newletter that your articles are published in. At this point they will only be distributed to members. They will most likely be distributed electronically or accessable for download in a members only section.

Concerning finding people in your area have you checked out the members maps? (Sticky posted) Also show up at the Carlisle All Ford Nationals and you will probably meet some of the more local folks as well as a whole host of "out of towners" as well. First weekend in June every year. Not too far from you either.

so you're saying i would not receive a copy of the newsletter that contained my rebuild, at the very least? i s'pose a woulda received a copy of that particular newsletter ... at any rate, a copy of the article would be nice, considering i know more than most people do about any mechanical issue .... not tryin to sound conceited, just realistically honest ...

I have no problem in providing copies of any articles you write as they appear in the newsletter, But as far as the entire newsletter? Right now as indicated they will be distributed to or will be accessable to members only. At least that is the policy right now. The purpose for that decison BTW is to ensure members get something of value for their $15.00 a year (dues right now) over and above the folks that visit here. That is also the reasoning behind the Member's Forums as well that show up as being private right now for you.

As far as your knowledge level I am not doubting you. But on the other hand there are folks in the club that have owned SC's like I have since 1989. There is a VAST amount of knowledge about these cars exhibited by the membership as a whole. And there is always "new" things to learn as well.

Duffy is being to nice.

The fact is you will soon learn that there are many engineers, designers, ford mechanics and all out dedicated supercoupe enthusists that would know a ton more about this car then all the ASE courses in the world can give you. There are also ASE certified mechanics here who not only have years of experience but years of experience owning and working on/rebuilding SC's. I think as Duffy stated it would be nice to see your progress documented in the newsletter but you have to join to get one just like the rest of us. You will have many questions along the way and will need us to help. Mark my words.

So is $15 worth over 15 years of SC experience..I'd say so.
