i was wondering why a lot of people on here have so much "beef" towards fox body mustangs, i mean, they are truely decent cars, they look good, sound good, and they are/can be quick, cuz i know when shane mentioned getting one, everyone like freaked out at him about having gary's car and everything, but personally i dont see a problem with the car sitting for a little while until he has enough money to do the car right, but anyway, what is it about fox mustangs that everyone doesn't like??
-im just curious btw...not trying to start any crap! lol

I guess because there are so many of them and more people pick them to mod over a tbird. I don't have a problem with them. I used to have an 88 GT and an 86 LX before that. I wish I still had my GT and maybe I'll have another one some day.
If Shane wants a Mustang as well as having the red 92 he bought from Gary to mod later, then he should go for it.

The aftermarket is so huge for the foxbody.
I will be getting one as my next project, but a t-bird foxbody.

I think it's because most 'Stang guys have no idea what an SC is. They think the Mustang is the only fast Ford, so that's why we're here, to show them up :D
At least, that's what I gather. Half the fun of the SC is that it's NOT a Mustang.

EXACTLY! I believe buyin a mustang is for the lazy car enthusiast, any mommas boy can flip through the pages of mm&ff or 5.0 and make thier car fast without having any real knowledge about the car.
but I also like them because they are Fords and they do look good (when done right) and they are fast(when done right).
My fiance used to have a 88 lx convertible, yea just a 4cyl, but an easy 5.0 swap ,suspension upgrade,an flowmaster exaust and that car would be quick.
but I love the SC because it's not a mustang. In florida all I see is mustangs and every mustang owner thinks his car is the baddest car around, then u ask em something about it,and they have no clue.I would love to make the SC as fast as the mustangs just to see the look on their faces when I pop the hood and say its a V-6.
I guess its something like sibling rivalry. STANG GT VS THUNDERBIRD SC

That seems to be the attitude of the majority of V6 stang owners and a few V8 guys as well. I think it comes with owning a stang that gives you that sorta attitude, its like a bad disease lol. But by all means not all stang owners are stupid like that.

I happen to like the fox stangs. I almost bought one before getting my Cougar. The Stang guys DO seem to have that "tough guy" attitude MOST of the time. I have several friends around here with Mustangs, both Fox and newer ones. None of THEM guys are as narrow minded in their thinking as most others though. A couple of them would have little problems handing me my butt if we were to race. I know it and so do they. But it is the same way with the slower guys.... they know they would lose to me so they don't even TRY to talk like they are faster, other than a little trash talkin in good fun.
The ones that get me are the ones like my little bro's friend with a Pontiac Gran Prix (NON GTP) who constantly puts down my car as well as all the Stangs, simply cause they are Fords. I challenged him to a run and he said it would be a waste of his time to race a Ford. So I went and got my old beater Beretta GT and handed him his ~~~, then my wife asked him if he wanted to race her in her 4door Buick... LOLOL... He said not a chance. The thing is, we were on twisty back roads not just a straight shot blast and this kid can't drive worth a darn so I think he realized that it didn't matter WHAT car he had, or I had, he was gonna lose. (I even offered to run him in my step-moms mini van:p )
As for the Fox Stangs, though... I still may get one some day. But for now, the Cougar keeps me plenty happy and DEFINATELY gives me something to spend my money on.

I give the Fox body Mustangs credit for it's role in re-creating the American muscle car. If it were not for the '87 Mustang GT and the enthusiasm it generated back then, we probably wouldn't have so many awesome cars to choose from today.

When I find myself gettin' pissed at/disgusted with Fox Mustangs I just remind myself that at least it is a Ford. That makes me feel better. I then hold up a picture of me and my SC while looking into a mirror and I say, "Because my SC is good enough, fast enough, and gosh darn it, people like it!" :D

Yes I do. There was a '64 1/2 or was it a '65 Mustang, a '79 mustang and a '94 mustang pace cars. The 7up mustang I believe was an '90 or '91.

but what was the a/r for the T3? :p
but this just goes to show you, that few people really know about "special" model cars. There are more people in this country then you'd think that dont have a clue what a "SUPERCOUPE" is other then a t-bird with a "body kit".
Id bet most people reading this thread dont know about the 79 pacecar, or the 7up edition mustangs (green/green vert lx)..hell, even the Super Stallion (though it wasnt a production car).

mmm... the Super Stallion was a nice a$$ mustang thats for sure. I believe it was a 5.4L DOHC, it was supercharged, twin throttle bodys and would run on either gasoline or alcohol. Not sure about the power rating but I know it was up there.
What about the Boss 429 that Ford did back in like 94/95? That was a beautiful car as well.

The motor wasnt even half of what was awesome about that car. I got to see it in person at the FRPP booth at FFW Bristol a couple years ago. If i recall right, it also had a IRS wth a crazy shock/spring setup all seen from inside/trunk. It made in the upper 500's... yea, 5.4, M112, twin throttlebodies.

I personally like the Fox body Mustangs, but I have to agree that I think most people think that they have something special just because its a mustang. I really prefer the styling and comfort of an Sc over a mustang anyday. I like that I can go to a local car show and be one of a handfull of Sc's. I like going to a national show and see thirty+ Sc's not 3000. I like having a car that is different, just like me. I like having a car that is special, just like me ( we're not talkin all back of the buss an ~~~~ here). I love the fact that I can drive a buck forty down the highway with four friends in the car and a half barrel in the trunk, upright! Try that in a fox body. Not to take anything away from the fox bodies, I've seen a few really nice pieces. I've been in more than my share of fast ones, but it really takes a lot more to impress me with one than it does a SC. I guess the fact that you say mustang and every idiot of the face of the earth know what you're talking about, but you say SC and some idoit thinks you're talking about sport center might have something to do with it.
