Thanks, I have 2 sponsors currently (TurboTrix and Blouch Turbo). Car is being built right now as a matter of fact, it's been down in New Jersey since Tuesday morning.
xThunderbirdSCx: There are going to be some really good videos of mine coming out. The video guy at Blouch is saying that he wants to use 4 cameras, 2 inside and 2 filming from the start and finish of the strip. Should be cool.
Thanks for the comments guys

Very Nice Video...Heres my two cents......
Keep transitions to simple fades enless they have a purpose...they tend to take away from impact from the video.......
Keep effects to a minimum......
use fast cuts for fast music and slow cuts for slow songs.
If camera blurrs.....try and edit it out......looks better in long run........
EDIT AS MUCH VIDEO AS U CAN AND GET TO KNOW THE PROGRAM........
Find out which one u like......i've tried avid, final cut pro, priemere, vegas and much more........
I personally like to use sony vegas 5.0...fast rendering times and tons of options........
Video editing can be time consuming but its fun and u can always make urself look good!!!!
on a side note......love ur car......i have three close friends.....one has a evo-8....the other has a 05 sti, and the last one has a 92 VR4 built.......then i have my stock sc(auto).....
I fight hard for my cars respect but those 4 cylinders and 6are fast.....the main difference is that i paid 2500 and they paid all over 25 grand.....
keep up the good work and if u need any more help let me know!!!! i dont mind......

I think what he means is that the whole import scene sparked this "everyday persons car" sponsorship.
Its a recent phenomena with lost of various tuners/fabricators out there that want to get some publicity.
When I first got into racing there was no way in hell you would get a sponsorship with anything resembling a street car. There wernt nearly as many shops out there catering toward teh strete crowds and the ones that did wouldnt give away a thing. They didnt have to. Today there is a large aftermarket.
Nowadays its considered free (cheap) advertisement..How many cars can we get our stickers on. Because if you see a name over and over again a majority of people will say..Hey..Hmm maybe I should get that HKS part..Or that edlebrock part..Or whoever it is...
Youd be suprised what a manufacturer is willing to give you nowadays to put thier name on your car....Me I perfer seeing my paint:O) all of it

No you have ZERO clue what you are talking about.. Did you pay attention to his sig? Hes using the sponsors to build a new setup for his car that will probably make it a whole helluva lot faster than a 12 second car.. Its always gotta be the big muscleheads that have to hate on people who try to better themselves in a way they never thought of.. And watch your mouth with the ricer comments.. Just cause we own 4 cylinders dont mean we dont know what we are talking about.. Ive probably forgotten more about SC's than you will EVER learn..

I think Thunder427 is confused between a "Ricer" and a "Fast Import". A ricer is someone who enjoys putting neons, big wings and fart cans on and saying they are fast because they have those items AND... AND yellow stickers.
A fast import is something like the video showed. What? a 9.9 Evo? Thats bad frickin' ~~~. I wish my SC could spin and make power like that. I dont know about you but thats still cool in my opinion.

I think these kind of comments are pretty uncalled for. You say my car is a lame turbo4 with AWD and yet when you called me out to race, you only offer to race me with your 600+hp Ranchero. You need all that car to take out a turbo 4 banger?
I'm building a car that will run mid 11 seconds with 93 octane in the tank, with 2.0 liters I think with any car that's an accomplishment. I went to the 2 companies with my idea, and they both liked it. I'm doing something that's never been done on an evo to my knowledge, I had any turbo available to me made by garrett so I could have made the car go a lot faster, but I like the idea of street.
I also just turned down an offer to have the car caged for free, I'd honestly rather get kicked out of the track.
11 second street tire and 93 octane gas, and I'm lame, what a laugh.
edit: btw when I say street tire, I mean stock tire.

its not like me running on 2 cylinders..
lets compare, I have RWD , you have AWD, you have forced induction, I have natural aspiration. Displacement or cylinders has nothing to do with it... its just a simple combo with dual holleys, while you have fuel injection as well. So long as we are talking about internal combustion piston driven reciprocating engines, my number of cylinders and displacement doesnt matter.
but kind of like how you say no replacement for displacement is only in theory ( even though theory doesnt mean just an idea, as the concept that the earth revolves around the sun is also a theory ) but the way you put it as if it is just someones idea.
what you are trying to say is, for me to run on regular tires.. Kind of in a way bragging about the fact that your car is AWD. You are saying to use pump gas ( 93 is the highest the 460 has seen anyways ) , basically trying to show how your car is more "Streetable". Sure if I lessened the cam a bit, and did a nice custom turbo setup it would be even better daily driven while having 1000 hp + on tap. But I think Natural Aspiration is much more impressive.
Therefore I say run RWD only, and get rid of forced induction on your evo. However maybe the concept of slicks has never crossed your mind, because you dont make the broad power that a big block makes, or dealt with this kind of torque across the band.. thus requiring less power to go faster. peaky peaky.
Your car is inspired by WRC, my car is a odd pick up - car turned hot street/strip machine. IF you challenged me to rally, thats a no-brainer. but we are talking drag racing. slicks, lock up convertor, 3.90 posi 9" rear.. welcome to drag racing.
But I forgot. Ill never learn as much, compared to how much your ricer friend has forgot about the SC.
also, Im sorry it is just odd to me to see a mild car be sponsored.

This type of stuff makes me like this board less and less, sure i get a lot of my knowlege from this board, its very helpful, most people are supportive... but everyone will have disagreements, but these fights will steer people away from this board and may discourage others from asking for help or posting a new idea in fear of being shut down and called names and thrashed. i honestly dont think this thread is necessary in the direction it is going, keep the name calling and fights to PM and be supportive towards people on the board who love cars just as much as we do even if they may not agree with your opinion. I guess all in all im saying it gives SCCOA a bad name and our beloved Supercoupes a bad name also.
just how i see it - take it or leave it

You cant help the opinions of other people but my parents always taught me if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all.. The guy is excited his car is being sponsored and he wanted to share it.. Hes improving his ride the way it was meant to be improved.. To go faster.. Whats the need for negative comments? What? Cant have an open mind to different things? Yea we own 4 bangers, yea we use technology to make our cars run the same numbers your big block does.. And we are riceboys because of it.. Damn wake up and smell the race gas..
Some people like doing things the hard way.. Gotta knock them down because they do? If that was the case then everyone on SCCoA is a loser because they are trying to improve their ride.. The car is old, heavy and it has a 6 in it.. There is a limited amount of aftermarket parts available and you need to custom fab most of the stuff if you want to make the car really fast.. So in closing stop acting like a jackass and if you aint got nothing nice to say then dont say anything at all.. Its attitudes like that that bring this club down and make people think you are a bunch of morons..
DamonSlowpokeBaumann

Actually it would be very irresponsable of a vendor to sposor a car that will have X amount of HP capable of running a time illegal at the track due to the lack of proper safety equipment.
And if the car isnt legal itself to race at the track , why the sponsorship?
Now I'm not taking one side or the other but in this case it would seem strange someone would sponsor a car that is never going to be raced in an event and win. Thats just something foriegn to me.
Now Dennis..Someone should sponsor him because hes all out :O) Then again I think he has something up his sleeve

haha oh god.. "technology" eh ? so forced induction and fuel injection is new technology ? So which part of it is so innovative ? computer controlled fuel managment ? tuning on the fly ? increasing boost ? this is trivial. Your engine is still mechanical, it still relys on fuel/air running through it to get power, regardless if you have a hair dryer attached to it to help it move. I bet it takes alot more skill to perfectly tune a holley carb, then to dial in numbers on a lap top. Not that theres anything wrong with that, but you have no respect.
typical ricer comment. And your not running the same numbers as big engines, youre making peaky power. I dont care what you get power from, thats not the argument.. Do I have to bring up the top fuel argument for the 1000th time to guys who think a turbocharged 4 cylinder is "technology" ? are you going to make 8,000 hp ? last time I checked the most powerful 4 was 4,000 hp and was a 5 liter.
But aside from that, like I said. I squeeze power out of a blown V6. Which again is a combo that makes broad power. So call it heavy, or old or whatever, but you probably just pissed alot of people off. ID take a turbo 4 for fun sure. But you ricers all have the same mentality. That we are just stupid rednecks, who have simple minds, and that the guys who choose carbed V8s are stupid and that is all we can work on.
" I can do that with my turbo 4 " .. NO. you cant.
I understand both sides of the fence, I have my small fuelie forced induction engine car, and my gigantic NA carbed engine car.
Whats such a great accomplishment about buying a factory forced induction car, running it mild, and having people GIVE YOU FREE ~~~~ ? Thats where Ricers and "Car Crafters" differ. That is why they dont get along. Im not going to sit here and be passive, because there is an imaginary line in here that exsists. I know it seems I am very close minded, but you would be surprised at the extent of cars/setups i like.
But the big block does own you.
KwikGSeX
02-13-2006, 03:15 AM
Considering I had an SC for 11 years I think i know what it takes to "squeeze power" out of that motor.. Pissing people off about the SC? Not unless they live in la la land.. They too know the car is old, its heavy and its got 6 in it that no one makes parts for.. Dont get me wrong I love SC's and when I get the chance ill be back building one up again like i did damn near 10 years ago..
I dont know why you think Im a closed minded individual who thinks turbo 4's are where its at but you are dead wrong.. I respect ANYONE who tries to go fast and that includes the old man in the 14 sec full race Yugo that I see now and again at Raceway Park in NJ.. What think i dont respect big blocks or V8's? Wrong again.. I know if a V8 were to use a hairdryer they would whoop on my 4 banger.. But since most people have this thing about doing it N/A ill just smile and chuckle to myself as I pass them.. Grow up and realize that some people like big blocks and some people like turbo 4's.. Calling me or 1FASTSC a ricer cause we modify our cars is the same as me calling you an idiot redneck for building a carb'ed big block.. I never said you were and respect the fact you run single digits N/A.. Not many people do. But its completely uncalled for and makes you look like a moron..

Oh wow I completely forgot that was there. That was a joke to an argument I got into with Frank (dirtybird91) like 2 years ago.. He too started callin me a riceboy for no reason whatsoever simply because of the fact I own an import.. He understood why that was offensive and even called my cell to apologize.. Really really nice guy as a matter of fact.. Since you are anal about the spelling it was put up there like that with the intention of it being sort of like a french accent.. Ok is this better now?
As far as me getting offended about being called a riceboy.. Yes its offensive to me.. I dont have any stickers, wings or any sort of LED garbage on my car to show it off.. I bought that car for the simple reason it was MUCH cheaper to insure than a Mustang and it cost me $900 to run 13.2's all day long..
what makes you think you will pass them, cause its a n/a motor?
Because most of the time I do.. Please dont go into the "there is always someone out there that is always faster than you" lecture. I know there is.. Ive been beaten and ive always respected that there are street cars out there that are much much faster than mine..

I think this whole arguement is pointless and not getting anyone involved anywhere. Who cares if Thunder427 has some monster-beast Ranchero that he thinks is "all that and big ol' bag o' Doritos"? Arguing over the interweb and getting "anal" about whos car is faster and resorting to childish name calling is pathetic. A little FRIENDLY smack talkin is one thing, but some people need to give it a rest already. I, personally, could not care less how fast these NON SC/XR7 cars are... especially if the owners of said NON SC/XR7 vehicles comes across as a know-it-all punk kid.

Dennis (KwikGSeX) used to own a heavily modded SC that was one of the fastest cars in the club. He has been around this club longer than I have and I'm sure he is well aware of the SCs potential and it's short comings.
http://www.sccoa.com/member/index.php?uniquename=dimitratos
His GSX will put the smack down on just about any car in this club, and the Talon he's currently building isn't something that even the quickest SC could keep up with. There is nothing even remotely "rice" about either car.
