The Fast and the Furious. from 1942 ;) yes there was an original believe it or not. I own it on DVD.
the wraith was horrible. was a cool concept car though. was the 2.3 turbo, dodge had it pumping out 450 hp too.
Bullit is NOT a car movie, I think most people have never actually "seen" bullit, other than the chase scene. It is one of the most boring movies ever made. The 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds I think was alot more intense. HB halicki owned. 45 minute chase scene.
I am surprised no one is saying Gumball Rally, I think that is my top one next to 1974 GI60S, " Franco is ready" best is when no one is around in manhattan and they just come speeding by, 1970 Ferrari "Daytona" front engine V12 convertible, hells yes. or Cannonball, NOT cannonball run. The one with David Carradine in the orange Trans Am. They used him in it after Death Race 2000.
The best street racing DVD out so far is called "2fast2real" ( for hollywood )
god damn amazing. i suggest anyone reading this buys that dvd. theres only one fat dork in a GSX and a couple supras. Everything else is pure muscle/hot rod, stangs vettes etc. awesome.

I figured Jim D. would be all about "The California Kid" with Martin Sheen.
Speed Channel has brought back the Lost Drive-In where they show a lot of these car movies on the weekends.

i liked the story behind it. you just have to pay attention. steve mcqueen was an awesome driver in this movie, but also did a good job acting. it goes into my car movies category because he drove a ford, and was chased FURIOUSLY be a mopar, which is my second favorite marque. that charger got the living ~~~~ drove out of it.

I can't believe none of you have mentioned "Herbie the Love Bug".
:p
Ya, I know the movie is silly, but it the beginning scene where they are doing the figure 8 demolition with 34 Fords, 55 Chevy's and so on is priceless. Can you imagine doing a demolition derby with those cars today? It's enough to make a grown man cry.
And then there is footage of REAL Shelby Cobra's, Pantera's, and vintage Ferrari's duking it out (in slow motion, lol) on a road course. You can't find that kind of footage too many places anymore.
Another one for Vanishing Point

Have not that many even seen it?
If you've seen it, you would probably list it as one of your favorites!
*ALL TIME FAVORITE*
>>>>. VANISHING POINT .<<<<< <<<<< . >>>>>
426 Hemi in a Challenger, outrunning the Cops and Helicopters across several states, making them all look like fools. A Jag crashes while racing him, then he gets blamed for everything, even though he didn't do anything.
Except pi$$ off the cops.
Kowalski especially likes the dirt, and even jumps his white Challenger.
(real footage) He does not sleep....for days...
Guided along by a blind DJ, lost in the desert out of gas.
( 2-big four barrels on a Hemi get very thirsty,especially at 130.)
What a weird storyline, this is a car chase movie that not only has a great hemi soundtrack, but part of what makes it so entertaining is the strange progression of kooky characters he meets along the way, including rattlesnake revivalists, a senile old alcoholic desert rat as a guide, and a girl riding her Honda scrambler around naked thru the desert.;)
That should get you curious enough to want to see it.
I'm not going to tell all, you need to check it out yourself.
But here is the part that most people miss about this movie...
It makes you think. Is the ending really the ending, or is the beginning the ending? Maybe there is two endings, maybe there is no ending, and he's still out there somewhere, going full throttle, bangin' gears, and leaving the cops in the dust........ You decide... Are you truly free?
Just substitute an SC for the Challenger, and you are there!
I don't know if they have it or not, but here is a great resource for hard-to find movies, and hard-to-find CD's too>>>> www.cduniverse.com
Great Prices,Fast Shipping- For all my SC friends!
Be Cool, and when In Doubt........Gas It! SC-Ya Amigos!
