was just going down the road and both lights came on.the antilock one and the brake light .shut the car off and there on again.what happened?the brakes seem to work fine. its a 90 sc with 75000 on her.what causes the lights to go on and how to fix it?

Do the lights now come on immediately and stay on after the car sits?

Things that can be assumed:
#1 - If the ABS light is on, you have no ABS brakes. That light only comes on if the ABS computer has disabled itself.
#2 - If the ABS light is on, and you have good brake assist, the ABS Pump relay, and the ABS Pump are working.
#3 - If the Fluid level is fine, and you don't notice the ABS pump cycling often, it probably isn't the Accumulator

Possible problem - A wheel speed sensor has failed.

If the ABS computer does not get inputs from all 4 sensors, it will disable itself.

The sensor could have come loose and is now too far from the sensing ring. The sensor's wires could have become damaged, or the sensor could just have failed. They are Hall Effect type sensors and can fail.

abs and brake light

remember they were both on.the abs light and brake light.i was messing around with the wires on the accumulater and now there both out.what ya think?

Brake light will come on with ABS light often.

If both lights are off now, make sure that when you first start the car that the lights do come on for a few seconds and go off. If they don't come on at all, then all you did was disconnect whatever turns on the lights. You didn't fix anything.

There is a test block in the truck just like the one for the engine computer. You can pull the ABS codes and it might tell you exactly what is wrong.

There are no wires on the accumulator. You're probably referring to the wires on the brake unit itself.

If any of the harnesses were disabled, the system wouldn't work.

Sounds to me like your Accumulator isn't keeping pressure all the time.
