OK,
So....I know I have done this before but things have changed since then and the available styles have as well...What is HOT now may not have been available during the last POLL...So please help me out by participating again...I will be choosing 3 styles among the choices. The three that stand out in the polls is what will be casted for the TBIRD/MARKVIII...They will be hubcentric and fit with no rub issues...We have been down this road so many times in the past and have never had our hands in the specs of the wheel. This time we are the ones making the casting specs decision on everything.

We are also interested in what most prefer in the way of Sizes...18" or 17"...So please participate in that part of the poll as well.

Thanks,

I am not sure at this point...All those kinds of particulars come later. I would rather have blank caps since that seems it would serve most people best. An SVT cap or something else very simple would be OK...I don't know what the options are just yet.

Since its close in the height department will you be loooking at 17s and 18s? Or do you just plan on one size?

Chris

cudaz101
02-09-2006, 06:21 PM
Well the thing is that the 18's cost pretty close to the same as the 17's...The tire sizes and availability of the 18's are much better than the 17" options as well...Let me tell ya....It is nice running my 245-45-18 tires knowing I am at stock height with a dropped car...It looks good and you are more out of harms way AND the 245-45-18 tires are much easier to come by than a stock height 17" tire...

So yea...I am leaning toward going with all 18's...Its the best option in the way of tires. Drag tires maybe not...Regular tires...Definately...

Hey brad. Haven't been over here for awhile. Maybe, four years other than a couple quick visits to see that the community still exists...

Anyways. I'd be interested in the saleens. They've been my dream wheel for the past two years, but I hate knockoffs.

Thomas A was nice enought to bring our attention to this poll on the markviii board, but you should post a poll over there, also. I bet you'd get alot more attention there than you'd think, as long as everyone can see it. I'm sure Calvin Louie would post it as a sticky at the top of the general discussion, or suspension, or wheels/tires page, you probably already know this but... in case..

I would purchase a set of the saleens in 18's for SURE! ! ! If this is one of the productions or is THE production wheel get ahold of me FOR SURE!

Prices...After I get the wheels in my wharehouse and figure out the exact cost THEN I can work on prices. I should however be able to sell these in Chrome/18X9's under $200ea shipped...Just have to wait on prices for now though.

Finishes...I have a minimum of 40 wheels per finish. So obviously I have to choose one finish per style and that will be CHROME this time around. I can't mix up finishes like I would like to...So I guess that is a no on getting a raw finish wheel if you want it.

Everyone keep in mind that this poll is not the only count I have. I got several emails from folks not wanting to register here just to vote...So have a look at what ended up making the short list.

Shelby GT500 18X9.5 CHROME/+32MM offset/5-108MM/70.80MM Center Bore

Saleen Speed Star 18X9 CHROME/+36MM offset/5-108MM/70.80MM center bore

If you want to make a deposit to reserve yourself a set that is fine. You can call the shop and they will set you up somehow. We don't even have a solid price on the wheels. We just know that they will be close to $200ea shipped. If that is enough information for you to pull the trigger then fair enough. The wheels are ordered and expected in 60days time.

Brad, I decided to check the board instead of emailing you, can you explain the 'hubcentric' ??

In an email you stated there were 'adapters' or something available somewhere in case the wheels didn't get cast as such, I'm not concerned, but what is it? And are we going to need the adapters?

I'll be sending a deposit.. I'll speak with you more through email..

You have mail....

For everyone else that is not up to speed with the term Hubcentric simply google it and it will make alot more sense. It is very common and it is in no way a spacer. It is more like a bushing/sleeve that corrects the hub bore of a wheel making it hubcentric and in turn prevents vibration.

Thanks,

Brad

No offense taken...heh...Just show me where the "Community" has shown interest in what you describe and I will see what I can do.

Also...When I wrote that post it was in regards to the casting options that I have in a Replica wheel. Also keep in mind I can't just get 40 wheels made at a time...We are talking 200+ wheels per style/size/finish/bolt pattern/offset. So I hope ya like apples...;)

BTW..I do have some 7-spoke wheel options in our bolt pattern...Just not in the widths you mentioned...Although I agree with those sizes be very desirable for our cars.

Okay, so maybe I am my own community. I do seem to be the only one who prefers 7's to 5's. But I do like the 5's with the dual "fingers" like Fast Ed's and the ones you posted earlier this year.

I should have nailed the Konieg Prophets when I had the chance :(

Looks like I am going to have to do the Mustang swap to get a better range of rims and pray there's a decent 7 spoke in the bunch, with a decent width.

I'll need 8in for a 245/45/18?

What about 19s? When I look at the wheel well of an SC i always think It should have more rim and a decent amount of tire on the rear. The few I have seen look great.

I would like to try it but the offset necessary scares me. I was thinking a 19" with about a 32 - 35 front offset and 35 - 40 on rear. But i'm not a wheel guy.

Would this work? 9 in in front and 9 or 10 in rear? Probably would require some grinding or hammer adjustments in the rear.
