Hi Everyone,
I just posted a Group Buy for the (REAR TORSIONAL LOAD BRACE) on Ebay. If you are not an Ebay member let me know if you want in.

This brace will fit all 89-97 Thunderbirds & Cougars. These braces will be professionally welded right from the same jig Kenny Brown Performance used. All braces will be professionally powder coated black just like the STB & LECB that many of you have purchased. The GB price is $99 with free shipping.

"The Heavy-Duty Rear Torsional Load Brace is designed to reduce rear control arm deflection under hard cornering." "The Rear Torsional Load Brace helps maintain rear suspension alignment to significantly improve driving feel in all driving conditions."

Check out the link below. If anyone would like to contact me please email me at (rmg1968@msn.com).

Thanks,

PS: Kenny Brown has been ill and I would like to put out a GET WELL SOON to him.

Rick:

Thanks for bringing this item back to the community. Can SCCOA members expect to receive a small discount on these? I realize they are discounted at a presale price of $99 to the general public in your E-Bay promo, but was wondering if we might enjoy an additional couple dollar discount. ;)

Hi Pablon,
I specifically put these on Ebay for SCCOA members. Ebay is a much easier way for everyone to handle the whole process. Also, those who have a Paypal acct. can pay that way. I think at least 90% of SCCOA members are Ebay members also. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Rick

Do you still have plans for a front STB for the 5.0L Thunderbird?

"The Heavy-Duty Rear Torsional Load Brace is designed to reduce rear control arm deflection under hard cornering." "The Rear Torsional Load Brace helps maintain rear suspension alignment to significantly improve driving feel in all driving conditions."

Is there any downside to using the brace alone, and not in conjunction with the braces meant for the front/engine side of the vehicle?

Hi,
I believe the more you stiffen the chassis the better. Chassis flex is power loss. The downside is more flex. But, one brace is better than none.

Agreed. From everything I have read (and learned) you don't want the car to absorb the ponies by flexing. Rather, you want the chassis to allow for the transfer of the power to the pavement. Only a stiff frame will do this effectively.

P.S. Lets fill the slots here guys. You'll never get it for any cheaper and we are waiting here. :-)

We have six(6) sold and paid for thus far. Would like to get at least ten(10). I re-listed on Ebay. Here is the link. Also, I ordered the steel and we will be using approx. 1 1/2 x thicker steel than KBP used.

Thanks everyone that jumped onboard. These units will compliment the other structural components you may already have, or will be a good start to putting more power to the ground if you are just starting to think about structural support (it is often overlooked) and have yet to install any supports. Looking back, it's pretty cool we were able to complete a list of 10 PAID buyers in LESS THAN 2.5 weeks. I've been a part of a few GB in the past that seemed to drag on forever (STB ring a bell?)

Ricks SC
03-08-2006, 04:55 PM
Yes, thanks everyone and thank you Paul.
The Group Buy is still open and will remain open for a few more weeks. Production on the units has already begun and I hope to get the units to the Powder coater by next week.
We will be working on an IRS support brace next and will have a GB on these also. Some future plans are: subframe connectors, rear shock tower brace and a narrowed IRS so we can put some fat tires under there. Any and all suggestions are appreciated and encouraged.
To all vendors, distributors and manufacturers we will glady consider trades on our products for yours.

Thanks,
Rick

Hey Rick, do you have an approx ship date for the first batch of braces?

Ricks SC
03-20-2006, 10:12 PM
Hi,
I don't have a ship date yet. I am using thicker steel than KBP used and had to make a few minor modifications to accomodate for this which set me back a little. I finished a complete unit today and it fit my car great. Now I can move forward maching the rest of the steel. I hope to get them out to the welder this week. Then sandblasted and last powder coated. Instructions are all printed and hardware kits are ready. Depending on the delay at the powder coater might be able to get them out late next week.

Thanks,
Rick

Hi Everyone,
The RTLB group buy is now closed. I want to thank everyone that participated. We sold about 15 units. I feel this GB was a success.
Just an update. Way more involved than I anticipated. But, were doing it. Very sorry for the delay. But, I will not compromise quality for time. All of the steel has been cut and machined. I have a new welding shop lined up and as soon as they give me the go I will bring all of the braces to get welded up. They are a little backed up but it should be very soon. Then to the powder coater. I am looking into having these tig welded. I appreciate everyones patience. I will post again soon.

Thanks,
Rick

Wow these are sweet! :D Got one of my braces today and it was sure worth the wait. It hangs nice and low, but not too low. This will fix the issue I have with my current brace as it pushes the y-pipe into the differential housing corner. Rick, count me in for the front suspension braces. I'm confident you will have a similar turnout. :)
