re:car bouncing

hello all
my cars ride real bouncy, the shocks are original.springs are suspension
technics (12 years old).should I buy shocks only,or do u think think springs are shot as well

If you still have original 1989 shocks, I would atleast start there. Springs generally have a longer life but it very much depends upon your personal preferences and what tires you have. For example, last year on my '94 I replaced the stock shocks with OEM Tokico 2's and installed Eibach springs - I hated the soft bouncy ride and couldn't understand why everyone raved about Eibach's. So I drove everywhere with the 'firm ride' on. Early this year I replaced my Firestone tires for Pirelli P Zero Nero because there wasn't enough tread left on the Firestones for winter use. The difference was amazing and I now leave the ride control alone.
