If a knowledgeable person in NE Illinois can spare some time with a Supercoupe it would be appreciated. I bought a non-running car and I am trying to get it started prior to either parting it out....or using it as a driver for a while.

Thanks,
Todd

Can you explain more. It will not start.
Starts but dies,
will not turn over.
Turns over but will not start.

It might be the timing is off.

The car did run with a new battery, but the car didn't run well. I believe it's a problem in the valvetrain of the drivers side head. I hope to look into this soon. We have some parts on Ebay and I want to make sure we sell good parts only so the head will be checked out if it's removed.

Thanks for the replies.

Why do you think the problem you have would be in the valvetrain?
These parts normally last a very long time.

If it runs.Pull off one spark plug wire at a time and see which cylinder is not working.

Check al six spark plug wire.

When you remove a sparkplug wire and the cylinder is good, your car will slow down or die.

If you find a bad cylinder.replace the sparkplug and spark plug wire.
You can swap another wire from other cylinders, for testing if you
don't have any extra.

Vacunm leaks are the norm for motors that miss, or bad spark plugs or spark plug wires.

Get back with me after you check the plugs and sparkplug wires.
And look around to make sure all vacumn lines are on.

I've heard misfires and vacuum leaks or vacuum issues. This is not something that small. It's LOUD and sounds like garbage.

It is a parts car that is half pulled apart already. The diagnosis isn't as critical at this point.
