is there an easy way of knowing if your running too lean or too rich without getting a dyno done? tbird has been sitting outside most of the winter and switched the battery today and started it, ran rough for a bit, then as it warmed up or was running for a while it seemed to be alot better.

No easy way....you need a wide band o2 to know.

check spark plugs

Take a spark plug out......if it has/had been running too lean for an extended period of time, the spark plugs will be a light gray or white color, if too rich, they'll be a dark gray/black color. Again, the car would have to have been run for a few weeks(?) too lean or too rich to show this. The best way to tell would be with a wideband O2 sensor.
