Mark VIII auto trans better than 93? Price?

Is the automatic tranny in a 1995 Mark VIII better than the automatic tranny in a 1993 SC?

Also, are the 2 interchangable, and what would be a fair price for one if it (a Mark VIII trans) that was original NONrebuilt, 140K miles on it, but in sound working order?

Please help me out with an idea.

Thanks

Better? Yes. Interchangeable? No.

The Mark 8 has a 4R70W with the 4.6/5.4L bellhousing bolt pattern. The 93 SC has a AOD with the 3.8/4.2/5.0L bellhousing bolt pattern. You COULD install a 4R70W with the 3.8/4.2/5.0L bellhousing bolt pattern, but then you would have to figure out how to control it. The 4R70W is an electronically controlled transmission, the AOD is not.

Bauman electronics makes a controller for the electronic transmissions.

But for the most part there is nothing better about that transmission than the one in your 93, unless the MARK VIII transmission is the only one that works.

The electronic controller isn't free either and you can build the AOD pretty stout.
