Replace heater core through engine bay?

Is it at all possible? I would try messing around with it on my parts car but the firewall is pinched at that point.

I'm gonna be doing the head gaskets on my new sc soon and I noticed that with the passenger head off, the heater core will be right in easy access. I would definitley want to do this as preventive maintenance and save alot of hassle from the future.

From what I've seen, its not possible. I had to rip out the dash.

1990 SC would be imposible unless you got a reciprocating saw and you wanna mess up your car. just do it the easy way and spend 20 hours taking out the Dash and putting it back in

While you can't pull the heater core out through the engine bay (without the use of a Sawzall anyways) it would be MUCH easier to access the hoses that go to the heater core while you have the top end of the engine off. I've done two heater cores and those spring clamps are no fun to get on and off with the engine sitting there.
