What would cause this?

I'm at a loss on how to describe this, so I'll do the best I can. This is most noticeable in D and around 2000-3000 RPMs. When giving it just enough gas to maintain a speed, it sounds like a woodpecker tearing into a piece of steel.

If I speed up or slow down, the noise goes away. I can't hear it at idle either.
I thought it was my blower, I just put another blower on it and it still does it. Would the idler pullies make this noise? Anything else?

Thanks! I need all the help I can get.:(

Its not spark knock is it?

It almost sounds like a spark knock, just a little louder. I always put 92 or 93 octane in it. It's been about a year and a half since I changed the plugs, Autolite Double Plats.

I have not had good luck with Autolite plugs. I always use Motorcraft. People say they are the same but I have never seen it.

I had thought about the plugs being a possible culprit, but other than that noise, the car runs great. I guess I'll change them and see if it helps. Thanks!
