Transmission Problem

I recently started to have some problems with my 92 SC. It seems that when I try to downshift from 3rd to 2nd, instead of having a smooth slide into it I end up with resistance. As I push the shifter into 2nd, there is grinding and I can't shift down until my rpms are pretty low. When I shift from 1st into 2nd I don't have any problems, or with any other gear. I only have the problem going from 3rd to 2nd.

I recently replaced the stock clutch with a SPEC clutch set, so I don't think the clutch is the problem. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

I looked around for similar problems and I think I might know what is happening. From what I read, I think that the second gear is locked in to the differential. This makes it so that when the dog teeth in the collar try to lock into the gear, it is already spinning so it 'grinds'. This explains my problem...

but now I need to know how I can fix it. I'm not a mechanically oriented guy, so I don't know what this requires. Any help?
