I need help locating the pcv valve in a 1988 Cougar xr7. I have looked all over that engine and still have not found it Please help.

Is it a 5.0? Is it an HO or lo-po? I'm not familiar with the HO, but I would assume it is in the same place as the lopo. This thread on crownvic.net has a picture of it. It is 34/35/36. You should replace the pcv valve as well as the breather filter in the intake as well. If you do a search on crownvic.net in the 5.0/5.8 Tech Forum or Archive. You can find a few threads on how to do it.

pcv valve

If it is a HO engine, its in the back side of the intake in the middle of the intake. There is a little rould screen under the pcv valve that should also be replaced for it is almost always stopped up with oil. I think all the HO and non-HO fuel injected birds, cougars, and crown vics had it in that location. All the HO mustangs did.
