This is what it would be like if you had a blown 4.6 in your SC. Enjoy :D

For some reason, I can NEVER get those streetfire videos to work!

That is my tbird. steven watson. It is very fun. My car is a 96 lx but I added a lot of sc stuff to it. I added a 95 speedometer/boost vacuum gauge, sc seats, sc springs, sc wheels. I am making around 350 rwhp and 400 ftlb rwtq. Eating c-5 and F bodies is fun.

Does it really tach that high? or is it due to a V6 tach reading 2 more cylinders?

And this is what it's like with 347 turbocharged motor in an SC.

Steve your car is sick! *drool*

And Im sure a modular engine can tach that. Looks to me like 6000rpms which is easily feasable for a OHC engine. Either whay I love it!

And this is what it's like with 347 turbocharged motor in an SC.

Turbo... yum... Id rather have a turbo than a supercharger but i love low end ooomph. What kind of turbo do you have T4/05? Either way Ive long admired your car Dave, niiiiiiiiice ride.

More than likely when the 3.8 goes I'll put a cammer in the SC.

I bet it was a nightmare getting the bugs worked out and all the wiring, ECU etc.

My car is very fast but my car looks like a 3.8 NA compared to that 347 turbo bird. daves car is flat sick. I had the wrong computer in it at the dyno. I finaly got the right tune in it. I am thinking about having a custom ground cam done since there is nothing off the shelf that will work with a roots blower.

The factory 4.6 pi cam is intake@.050 exhaust@.050
200 209
.504 lift .529 lift
114 degress lobe seperation

I am thinking about having this grind made by combingin a couple of diffrent lobe designs off crower cams.
intake@.050 exhaust@.050
209 220
.529 .549
mabey 114 or 113.5 lobe seperation angle.

What do you think of my cam ideal?

7birdslater That is a v8 tac I just took the front off a sc tack and layed it on the v8 one because I wanted it to say preminium unlead only.

I think I'd still take your car (Love the video). Sorry Dave, but I just can't get over some badass supercharger whine, even if the Turbo car is an absolute BEAST. :p

I actually got to ride in Steves car. It is pretty cool. It was really weird the way it launched because it did not fry the tires. It just hooked up and slammed ya into the seat.

As far as the cams go Steve, I would think that the 262AH cams would probably work. I need to get onto the site and check out the deal with them as I can not remember the specs. I know you said you had already used some aftermarket sticks in there.

I also think that a looser converter would help it speed up, but now we are talking about other issues....and I STILL have not been in a ride in Davids car.

I don't blame you, at this point I like Steve's car better too. Getting this turbo car to run like a stocker except for when you want it to go fast is proving very difficult.

I changed the plugs again today and tightened a few clamps and took it for a drive. It still has a part throttle miss/stumble, but runs great at WOT. It will idle okay but still running rich and drinking gas like it's got a hole in the tank. Until Dave can do some more tuning I don't think it will get any better. So meanwhile I'm going to try wiring up the button for the two step rev limiter and see if I can get it to launch harder.

Thats pretty cool. I knew they could tach that high, The truck I traded last year was a 2001 4.6 and I could rev it to the moon, but it wasnt anywhere near as fast at gaining RPM's as that SC'd V8...:) You cant get that grumble anywhere else either. I do love V8's.

You should see what the new 3-valve 5.4L rev's like. My father has a 05 F150 FX4 with the 300hp 5.4 and that truck is awesome. Just waiting for someone here or on tccoa to get their hands on that 5.4. But I doubt it would fit, its a TALL engine.

I wouldnt mind a 5.4 in my SC.. then again, who would? haha

Yeah ive seen and felt a 2005 5.4 3 valve... every day! I love it!!!!!!:D
Not quite as fast as the trucks of old due to weight, but it will tow your house down. Im thinking about adding the thin blue anny stripe to it....

Get the wheels powdercoated black as well! :D

And as for that 3 valve 5.4, stomp on it at 65+... its got more mid range- high end than any of the previous F150's not to mention that exhaust note and intake throat sounds baaaaaad :D. Or maybe the 4000lb bird is slowing it down a few tenths  A CAI, exhaust, and a Reinhardt chip will wake it up. I just like the console shifter and the fighter-style gauges that the FX4 gets. Need I mention the new 2006 Lariats with 20" wheels? Or the 06 Harley's? Its the meanest truck Ford's made and that the reason Ford is the best selling truck 20+ years.

If i ever go for a swap for the bird it will be a 5.0L with a turbo. Superchargers are great but you gotta admit that coming up on boost and toasting the tires at 30-40mph is fun too

ive been in my fair share of v8 sc'd cars, ill take the 347 turbo car anyday!!!

one of these days ill have to get a vid of a n2o v8 car.

SO who do I consult about the V8 turbo swap. I aquired a 5.0 out of an 88 GT and Im anxious to get rolling :D

David Niebert had a shop do the swap on his car. He was not happy with the quality of work that was done. From what I have read, he went to a mustang site and talked with a bunch of guys that had turbos on their cars and built his to specs of a 10 sec mustang. The told him what size turbo, injectors, compression ratio, heads, and stuff like that. He is a SHARP guy and knows what he is doing as well. Look him up but do your research first. If you have dreams of some 500rwhp car with a stock 5.0 block....it aint gonna happen. Be realistic.

You would have been better off with a T-bird V8. The T-bird motor will have the right harness (plug in is great), the right mounts, the right radiator, the right intake manifold, the right accessory brackets, etc.

We found that the 94/5 Mustang EEC plugs right in eliminating the problems with the lousy Tbird EEC's. That and all the SC dash lights and gauges work correctly. If you use a Tbird LX tach it will even read correctly (gotta modify it slightly).

If you do use the 88GT motor I'd just toss a carb on it and call it even. Much easier.

I will second that for the carb. You can get a huffer that will adapt to the carb on those engines too. Just saw the new one from Holly (I believe) the other day. AND, you have your choice of centrifugal or box type.

David and XR7 Dave did the install of the engine into the 93 SC. The shop fabbed up the turbo pipes, manifolds, and so forth. That is what David was a little dissapointed with. XR7 Dave helped him do the install and the tuning.

They started with a TBird 5.0L and then had a 347 Stroker that I believe took a little modifying to fit in the bird properly.

I dont need 500hp. Id be more than content with the 210hp 5.0L and a little boost. this is a daily driver So I'm thinking 300-350hp is fine.

Shane (Quick35th) has a 5.0 out of a tbird sport sitting in his garage. Get in touch with him, he might give you a good deal on it.
