Not by much, but still......

Limit / Reading
HC 54 / 4
CO .30 / .000
NO 396 / 597

RPM was at 1475, but I wasn't sure what gear he was in, it sounded like 3rd.

Curb idle was easy, the NO isn't measured during that test. I pretty much slapped on the temp plates on WED, then slapped it on the rollers. I figured it would have passed. So now I have less than a 1/4 tank of gas, and I'll have to top up on some Gas line anti-freeze before tonights test. I think I might have my fan run all the time as well.

I bet I would have passed if the kid could have located the cats at all. He had 4 others come over to look under the car for them. The car idled for about 15-20 on the rollers before the test was started. I heard my fan kick on about 5 times, so I know the car was hot, probably too hot.

Usually, hot is good because that's when the cats work their best.

I'm not sure whether that would have helped with the CO value though.

I would strongly suggest you get some good, clean, fresh fuel into that car before trying again.

Sean

Ryan - I had the same thing last year double the limit NO. Methyl Hydrate brought it in half to a passing level.

methyl hydrate, in the paint section at CTC. You'll probably pass with 1 litre mixed with over half a tank of gas :)

I passed last night. I had my rad fan running during the test, and a 1 litre "helper" bottle. The guys at CTC said that now cars 10 years or older need to be tested every year.

Thanks for help guys.

Ryan,

Congrats on the pass!

In regards to new testing intervals for older vehicles, I believe the legislation has been changed to allow for a longer pause before the first etest is required on newer vehicles, but I don't think they ended up passing the changes (yet) on the older vehicles. ...I know I didn't get a notice about needing to get the SC tested again this year. I had it tested last year and got a 2 yr sticker. ...Maybe I'll get that notice next year?!

Cheers,

Sean
