Where does the little starter wire go to?

I have an '89 SC that will not start. I am getting 12 volts to the big terminal on the starter when I try to start the car, Starter does not turn. Replaced starter. Same problem.

I ahve noticed that there is a little brown wire that also goes to the starter.
This wire is not shown on the factory schematics.
Where does that little wire going to the starter come from?

What does this little wire do?
If the key is off and I jump the two big terminals on the solenoid (on the fender) should the starter turn?
Does anyone have a schematic that shows this wire?

Is it the Starter wire that goes to your Ignition switch ?? If you jump that one to the power wire on the starter, it should turn.

Thanks Tin-knocker,
You must have a different year EVTM book than me. My '89 book only shows one wire to the starter motor.

By the way, it turns out that my problem was that my big fat ground wire on the negative side of the battery was not connected to the engine block.
That'll do it!
