ran into problem installing engine

I was re-routing some vacuum lines on the driverside of the engine compartment, in between the strut tower and the windshield cowling, and had a spring come out of a sensor. The little sucker went right behind the wiring harness at a place that I cant get to. If I take the hood off again, I might be able to get a clearer view. I'm not sure what it does but it has an electrical connector, a vacuum line and connects to a big vacuum tee. What is this thing and where can I get one?? I tried Ford but guess what, its obsolete. yeah

That's the boost solenoid. Just ditch it, it doesn't do anything useful and was deleted on the 91 SC.

Dave, any ideas or insight as to the reason it was there in the first place on the earlier cars? Just curious as to what it's purpose was supposed to be.
