Hey, just curious if anyone know if the IRS from a T bird will go in a Mustang?
Specifically an SN-95 platform mustang.
The more info the better. Thanks

The Irs From A Tbird Is Going To Be Too Wide To Even Think About Putting It In A Mustang Without Serious Modification. Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords Had Several Writeups On Irs In A Fox And Sn95 In The Last Year Or So. Itwill Work In A Sn95: Try The New "edge" Cobras- 99-04 Cobras All Had Irs In The Rear. Good Luck.

99 - 04 Cobra rear suspension is almost a direct bolt-in for any 94 - 04 Mustang. Trying to hack and slash an SC suspension to fit would be silly.

There are some Cobra owners out there looking to switch to solid axle. Often you can work out a trade for the IRS. Check out www.corral.net, and www.stangnet.com, as well as any other Mustang forums you can find.

sorry to hijack but i have a complete noob question. whats the advantage of IRS over a solid rear axle?

IRS will handle better in stock form than a solid axle. With IRS if you hit a bump going through a corner the wheel that hits the bump can move up while the other wheel can maintain full contact with the road. A solid axle when hitting a bump through a corner will cause the tire not hitting the bump to tilt and lose some contact patch.

99-04 IRS is a direct bolt-on for a fox or sn95. Only thing is ford had a problem with some of the bolts in some year IRS mustangs. The bolts were too small so they just upgrade to a bit larger bolt.
