Doing a complete drive train replacement/upgrade, and the axle shafts seem to be my last needed items. I know I saw them listed some place before, but cant seem to locate now. These should about do it, if I can find a source for them.

i heard someone say that these guys had an awesome guarantee. as well as an awesome product.

here's a pic of theirs against our stock one:
Yes, I see there full size shaft compared to the standard step design. Thats what I was looking for. Thanks...

I do not see any labels etc on the oil pan that came with the engine. Using this engine. I am getting all the components together still for this Winter project. Once I have all the major pieces, I will start at the rear axles, then new Ford Racing 8.8 aluminum carrier with 3.73 gears, aluminum drive shaft, then its time to put the engine/trans in. The headers will be a pain, since they will need to be done custom. (1 3/4 long tubes.) I am waiting on the trans and converter to arrive this coming week. The engine install will not be ready till mid Winter.

This is being done instead of buying a new car, so the $10,000 parts cost is not bad, since the car will be a pavement ripper, and have a total new drive train. Body is near perfect, no dents, rust, etc. When done, it will not be a typical cookie cutter car.

If I am not broke when its in, the AFR 185 heads will go on in the early Spring. That will put me in the 540 HP range.

just curious...

I was looking at those aluminum carriers...how much do they run, since I know I should be able to get some kind of discount under factory list.

850 Holley from Quickfuel These guys are great helping you with new instalations, and trouble shooting problems.

thnx for the link

Yep, $650 is 'bout what I was expecting from a Ford Racing list of $700. I'm kinda interested, but I'd definately go for an axle upgrade too, like yourself. Are you going to retain the stock gear ratio in that carrier, or going for something else?

I will stay with the 3.73 gears. With the wide ratio gear set that I had installed in the AOD, it will launch like a set of 4.30 gears and cruise as 3.73

Stock 1st gear: you get 2.40 x 4.30= 10.32 with 4.30 rear
Wide ratio 1st gear: you get 2.84 x 3.73= 10.59 with 3.73

These are the same gears that come stock in the newer Birds with the 4R70W trans. This is the main reason that the newer Birds are slightly quicker than the 1993 and earlier ones that have 2.40 1st gear.

The cheapest place I foud for them: $436
