I am trying to diagnose a no start condition after putting the motor back together, and I was wondering what the boost guage should read during cranking?
I am wondering if I'm not pulling enough vaccum?
My cam is not too teribly aggressive, 212 .530 lift 114 LSA...
During cranking, the boost guage is pretty still, which leads me to believe the bypass valve is remaining closed during cranking. I've manually moved it and it isn't binding or anything...
I also hear a "sspfffft" sound once in awhile that sounds like its building pressure and letting it go after I let go of the starter.
It sounded like it wanted to fire a few times, but never cranked.
I've tried with the intake all hooked up with the MAF connected, then with the maf disconnected... With it disconnected is when it tried to fire, though I'm not convinced it really had to do with the problem. Probably just coincidnece, but I assume it more likely to initially fire with the maf disconnected...
I don't believe it has vac leak, as I've sprayed all around potential leak areas with engine starting fluid. I'm pretty sure if there is a vac leak somewhere, it it not large enough to cause a no start condition...
Maybe I''l try again, and manually bind the bypass open, should have though of that before I guess...
I need some help guys, I'm suree I've greatly shortened the life of my starter
