Hi,
From the title I am doing a rear main seal job. I only want to do this once for the next 100,000 miles so I want to put the best seal in.
I have in hand both a fel-pro and a victor reinz (napa).
Which should I use? again, I don't want a leaker.

Check the surface of the crank to make sure it's not scored then.

Both should work, though Felpro is probably the most commonly used seal by folks around here.

I have been using the seal from the newer V6's. It is a totally different design and doesn't wear a line in the crank like the old ones do. I don't have the part # but it is a sweet looking seal. So far it seems to be working great but I dont' have much time on it to say how it is in the long run. Seems to me that if Ford made a change it would be for the better (hopefully). It's made by felpro but it doesn't look anything like the others.
