Ron,

I know you have a full time job and a life outside of SCCoA, so please don't take my comments as being negative or as an attack on the job your doing.

But..what the heck is going on ?? It seems that for the past 6 months things have gotten unusually slow as far as getting stuff like timeslips, dyno sheets and member page pictures updated.

Is there something that can be done with the software to allow people to post their own member page pictures or timeslips ? If that's not possible, will you accept help with those duties ?

Respectfully, David

Most sites with profiles let you upload pics yourself. How about we do our own (if it's within the scope of the software of course) and we self-police?

Should take a load off Ron.

i think it's time for this site to expand the amount of people it has running it.everything seems to be falling way behind for unknown reasons.i hope that everyone is fine but things really need to be caught up.someone in command of this site needs to respond instead of no response.

I can see that Ron has not been on the boards for a while and I also know that his new job duties sometimes take him out of the the country. We are trying to reach him and will post as soon as we have some actual information.

I have an idea maybe we can set something up where we have 2 or 3 members that could give approval of time slips, dyno numbers and Pics. this way we make sure the numbers are real and the pics kept to something thats auto related.
Just an idea I'm willing to help.

I totally agree. I would be more than happy to help with some of the stuff that happens around here. I do have quite a bit of time on my hands when im waiting on another turn-around to start. We have a total of 3 people running this site, (to my knowledge) and only 2 of them is around here most of the time. I would be willing to help out as much as i possibly could.....

Yes, indeed. And since every web site type guy here is volunteering to help run the place, let me just say that I probably can't do that. But, if you need any help pushing paper or on anything administrative that would free up your time or lighten the workload, give me a shout.

i was wondering the same thing since i submitted new pictures of my car and nothing. really these are simple task that people have been requesting. it really shouldnt take 1 holy person to make these things happen. Ive seen more stuff happening at a free forum than here and this is the number one spot in America for Super coupes it should act like it. this site is the most basic site i have seen so all these things shouldn't be the trouble that it has been.
i just got this site up http://mogjuice.com/ my site jsut got up a couple days ago and we havent even added more content or forums yet. sorry don't mean to advertise but it is my site. it so dam cheap to run it you don't even notice that your paying for it.

where is all the money of 3000 members going toward ?
I'm not sure if anyone realizes but thats what $45,000 a year. it only cost maybe $1,000 or so a year to run this place.

i don't mean to sound rude or un appreciative but its really a issue that all members would be interested in hearing about I'm sure, and why its the way it is now.
these cars are hard enough as it is and we all need this place to keep the world of Super coupes turning.

You're barking up the wrong tree here. The financials have been posted. The money is accounted for. And without checking the actual post, even though member numbers might be in the 3000s, I believe there's less than 800 current paying members. And I think your $1000 a year is a little light.

Regardless, George already explained he's investigating the situation. It will happen, but yes, it's taking a while.

I had stopped by George's place on Sunday, on the way back from Dan's event in PA. We chatted about many things, the SCCoA member pages being one. George indicated that he was finally able to get in touch with Ron, who is up to his armpits with job-related stuff.

Anyway, I think that George wants to get Ron to show him how to perform the changes on the member pages, so that he is able to do some of it when Ron is too busy to do so himself. Of course, until Ron has time to instruct George, we'll be (hopefully patiently) waiting.

cheers

I'm just curious about what the difficult things are that only trained people can do and what is it that takes so much time to learn how to upload images on a site. dont mean to sound rude but i dont know how to ask in a nicer way :D
or is it just the main dude just doesn't wanna share access to the site with anyone else ?

If you would go reading up on this subject. Ron puts a lot of pride in this website.

Go look at 10-20 member pages. They will all have the same look and feel.

I really dont mean to piss anyone off by saying this. With that out of the way. Im sure that all the mods take pride in doing what they do. There have been several people, myself included, that have volunteered to help with the running of the site. These offerings seem to be ignored and seems like the mods dont want anyone else but them running the site. But the truth is, i believe that this site does need some help. The SC of the month is from may. I mean, c'mon, what does that say to people when they look at the homepage. It seems as if this place has become somewhat disorganized. There have been several people that have complained because they have submitted stuff to be updated on their member page, and it hasnt happened. We all realize that you do this in your free time, and thats why we want to help. This site is expanding at a fairly rapid pace. I may be out of line by saying this. But its just the way i feel, sorry. But i think its funny that when someone offers to help, they seem to be ignored. If you guys (mods) would provide a valid explanation as to why you dont want anyone to help, id be satisfied. I would love to help out around here, as would several others. Sorry if i stepped on anyones toes. Just some questions ive had for a while.

Respectfully
Derek

All I have heard through an email a few weeks ago is that he would setup a time that we could talk, but did not get a follow-up. There are a few "keys" I need from Ron to even begin to think about how others can help out.

I believe Ron will come through but I am looking at some other options as time is running out. Ron has been real good to us through all the years, so I have a little slack left, but I will have to move here pretty soon.

I probably won't be saying much more on this, I just have to get some things into action with no promises or excuses.

George,

I am back in the US now, I have sent you three emails and they have all come back to me as undeliverable, please try to call me.

Thanks,
Ron

George & Ron,

Well....it's been nearly 3 months since starting this thread and still nothing seems to be getting updated on member page pics, timeslips or dyno sheets. The same stuff wasn't happening for at least 6 months prior to my starting this thread.

Are we making any progress towards resolving this situation ? What exactly is the problem ?

Sorry, Dave. I saw Sendo’s post as the “new” post in this thread the other day and did not see your post until I read the post from nickleman60.

Two words describe the current problems: Time and Information. Ron has all the information on how to make changes and we both have very little time for me to get the information from Ron. I have been able to get into the scguys mailbox and I have several thousand emails dating back to May of this year. Currently I am weeding out the Viagra and "hot" stock tip emails to get to the ones we need to make updates. I don’t have an exact time to finish that process, but will start updates back to May ‘06 once I have that list together. I am trying to get the earlier emails from Ron and will process those as well.

Once I can get caught up and have information on ways to do the updates we can look at turning these updates over to someone else for processing. Not really much news, I know, but at least we have started something. Hopefully each weekend I can start to get something accomplished. I realize that no progress will be seemingly made until the updates hit the boards, which is why I don’t post much about it. I’ll probably make future update notices in the member area as things actually get updated.

I offered my help back in June for various things. Talked to Duffy a few times then Goerge. Figuring we can vamp up for the summer. Get things going around here. I go to many car shows and meet many people interested in SC's or who own them. And thats only when I am around my car.

I thought it was a good idea to make up buissnesscards for the sccoa. As I said earlier when I am at car shows many people who have tbirds SC's etc dont even know what the SCCOA is....And even if I tell them will they go check it out?...A buissnesscard does wonders. File it away for a rainy day..Pull it out and check up on it when you get home..This was all mentioned back in June...Would have been a min investment...Season is over...No word...

As was mentioned more active paying members = a longer run for the sccoa = better for all of us.

I also have a connection in the clothing buissness. Printed tshirts hats etc etc..I offered to help with that.....No word

ALSO...I offered to help with memberships. Setting up information etc. Put together mebership packages as I have many great ideas on how to go about that. Basically a basic $15 membership gets you full access to all areas of the site plus any newslette relectronically we may produce. A $30 membership would perhaps include that and lets say some stickers, a hat, keychain, sweatshirt etc etc.

So far I have heard nothing back and have asked several times.

And my life is very hectic, I travel all over the USA for work and tend to work way over 40 hours a week...However I was willing to devote time yet to this club..Because of my love for the car.

SO there are people out there wanting to help...How long does it take to say ok????.....Thats a problem.
