Modded intake

Got my intake back today. I will tell you that it looks SOOO good that I want to give Manny a hug. We are in the process of moving the computer so I can not post pix tonite, but I will soon.

I just have to wonder, who all else has a modded intake? This goes for any kind (upper plenum and lowers...actual intakes) raised top or like mine...the opened return plenum and matching inlet to the lower. I did not have him remove the triangle. I am kind of afraid I would funk it up if I did that and lean out two of the cyls.

Anyone?

Chris

I have made 12 modified lower intake manifolds/plenums .
Sold 10 of them, and two for myself.
5 of them for M90 blowers,
3 raised manifolds for M90 blower
3 for A/R blowers
1 raised manifold/plenum for A/R blower,for myself.

Don't remember any ones name that has them :)

If it was built right ,you will like that your motor
will still be pulling above 5000 RPMs when the
motor would run out of air & power would fall off.

Good luck Randy

I custom built the TB plenum as shown in the picture. I also opened up the lower manifold and intake plenum same as Randy. I couldnt find a picture of it but here is a picture of the gaskets to show how much the lower manifold was opened. I have a raised roof manifold I am doing for Sam. I started it last year and havent done anything to it for a long time as he is in no hurry for it
According to Dave Dalke I wont see much of any improvement untill I add a cam and good heads. Then it will make do what it was intended to do, help move a lot of air.

I still have to wonder about the raised roof on the manifold. I did not have him do it 1) because I just gave him some raised tops and did not want him to do my work for free, and 2) because like I said, I am scared about torching a piston. At the time it was for the MPIII, but soon the 2.2 will be here and I dont even know what kind of room there is under that beast.... but one of you lucky guys might be getting a call...:D

It takes me longer to raise the manifold top. than it does
to build the plenum and do the welding build up on the manifold.

When I removed the triangle from the manifold. It took me about
30 days of wet flow testing to come up with the right shape to
get the manifold with a balanced flow. There are two spots in the
manifold that need to be welded and shaped. And one spot in
the plenum. This is to get as ner as possible to a perfect balance
flow in the manifold to heads.

I ran a manifold/plenum NOT RAISED with-out the triangle.
and a modified manifold/plenum with triangle .The spark plugs
read ok and the motor seemed to run just fine, with the
triangle removed.

The biggest modification help for balance flow, is to add a divider
inside of the plenum. If you remove the triangle.

I have not had hands on with the 2.2 blower. But while
developing the raised manifold for the M90 & A/R blowers
and working with Dave Dalke. To use a 2.2 blower. Dave D.
said that the thermostat housing would need to be modified.
He has the first released manifold/plenum that was built and
wet flow tested. He has number 003 manifold built. This was
done on purpose because he has the 003 SWB bird.

The stock manifold and plenum do not have a balanced flow
to the heads. The air can be made to flow closer to balance,
and it can be thrown farther off. Most of the time consuming
work that I do during a manifold/plenum mod. Is the shape of
the inside of the plenum and manifold. Its not just making
the parts larger.

I wish I had the time and know how to do that with mine. There is no diffuser in the return plenum but the all over quality is there on the return plenum. I may be in touch...but it all depends on the moola situation.

Chris

Chris adding a diffuser to the plenum is not hard to do.
You can do this yourself with common tools,drill,.250 drill bit,
scribe,rule or caliper,tig welder.

Material, aluminum 2inch wide x .125 thick around 7 inches long.

If you want to know how to measure and perform the job of
installing a diffuser, PM me. When I have time I will PM you
and try to explain the prosess I use. But I will not help you
or anyone else if you are going to sell my process & shaping
or porting ideas. I spent a few grand trying to improve, and
combind mine & others modifications. That have been done
to the manifold/plenum.

I am more than happy to help you out,or any other SCer
do mods for the self. But not for fabricators to profit from
other SCers, I am not going to give out TESTED modifications
that balance the airflow above Fords design.

I am glad that Manny is helping you out with this job.
Manny is one of the good guys around here. Just don't
bend over to pick anything up in front of him.He is
from the west coast. :) :)

Thanks Randy

Hi Randy,
I am interested in one of your manifolds. I pm'd you the other day. Could you please email me some pictures and details?

Thanks,

Rick I just got your PM. I simply am not able to do any work at this time.
I would like to build a manifold & plenum for you, but I am not able to do
any type work right now.Havent even been able to walk to my shop
for a few months now, sorry

Maybe Manny or T Bird 88 can help you with this type mod.

Thanks Randy

I am in the process of cleaning a spot in the garage to put my SC. At that time, I will send my old stuff to you for Damon. But HE will have to pay shipping this time:D.

Chris

Should have them up by tonite. Sorry it takes so long, but its hard for somone who is not that computer savvy.

Chris

Well...that sucked...lets try this...
