The gear shift lever on my 91 5 speed is becoming increasingly sloppy. Is there a rebuild kit available for it ??? I was looking on line at a B&M Ripper shifter , has anyone tried one of these ???? Are they easy to install ??
Thanks

Ripper: Best 5-spd upgrade!!!

If you have an OEM 5-spd shifter, it may be worn out. You can either rebuild your OEM shifter or buy a Ripper. With the Ripper, use lock tite on the shifter handle bolts. BTDT 4 times before I Lock-tite'd the bolts!!!

I second the loctite idea. Stock or B&M, make sure you dont rip the rubber thing, it kills ALOT of noise. Lube it up good after too.

phillips-head screwdriver, wrenches, allan wrenches, flat-head screwdriver to relocate the rubber boot, and a set of tweezers to pick any chunks out of the shifter hole. Its a pretty straight-forward swap, just make sure to take your shifter knob off first, and to be careful of your foglight/arc switches when lifting up the console thingy.

'89 - '90 XR-7 & '89 - '93 5-spds are all the same. The '94 - '95 5-spds have Much Better gear ratios & will bolt right in to an early SC/XR-7. The late model 5-spds are almost a close ratio. I have a late model in my '89 XR-7. WOW, what a difference it makes.
