Hg is the abbreviation for Mercury on the Periodic table.

Pressure is (or lack there-of) is measured in accordance with inches of mercury. For whatever reason, over time, boost has been measured in psi and vacuum measured in inches of Hg. Don't ask me why, but that's what it stands for.

HG=Measurement of mercury

Vacuum level is usually measured in terms of inches of mercury ("Hg). This is the same term used when the weatherman reports the barometer reading. I've also seen it as inches Hg, Inches H20, mm Hg..ect.
