LAST DAY TO BUY THESE AT THIS PRICE!! 9-1-06

Installation notes can be found here: http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80162

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
There will be three types of sets available. These will be sold in complete sets of 4 lines only, and come with mounting bracket and crush washers. Only very minor modifications such as mounting the new brackets is required for installation. I will make a tech post later with some tips for installing these. The options for lines are:

1989 - 1992 T-Bird/Cougar with Rear Disc Brakes
1993 - 1997 T-Bird/Cougar with Rear Disc Brakes
1993 - 1998 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC & BASE

These lines were developed to be custom, yet universal at the same time. These will work with stock brakes, PBR calipers, Cobra Calipers, etc. If you have a car with rear drum brakes and still wanted to get some better braking, you could use the front lines only as they are the same. You will still have to buy the complete set as there are no provisions for rear drum brakes. If you need to know why we didn't work with drum brakes, feel free to drop me a PM.

ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS:
To place an order, you will need to call Classic Tube directly at 1-800-882-3711. You must ask for "Tom", and say you want to take part in the "SCCoA Group Purchase" If you talk to someone else or do not mention the GP, you might not get an order in. Tom has been working with me on these for a couple months now, and has a good idea of what is going on.

When ordering, please specify the year of your car, regardless of brake upgrades. Even if you have swapped spindles, went to larger brakes, etc, you will want to get the lines that match the actual year of your car, as the fittings on the car side varies.

The price for the complete set of lines is $124.95 + Shipping. They will ship as 10 orders are received per style. So shipments will go out at 10 orders, 20 orders, etc until the date is up, where whatever remaining orders are left will be shipped.

This GP will be open and orders at this price will be accepted until September 1, 2006. After that date, pricing and availability will change.

Once you have placed your order, please post here or at TCCoA, or MarkVIII.org so we can keep track of how many orders have been placed. Let me know if you have any questions, and I will do my best to answer them. Thanks again for everyone’s support on these.

Well I hope Tom has a restful night. I doubt he will be getting off the phone until sometime next week.

But I have a question, What are the payment options? Credit card, Money order, personal check, military secrets?

Thomas A

Major Credit Cards for sure, Visa, MC, AMEX. You will have to talk to Tom about other forms. Good question though.

Thomas,

You are the man. I am sure a lot of time and effort has gone into this on your part with no gain on your end other than maybe a discount on your set. Thanks for making this happen. Its nice to know that there are parts and ideas coming alive versus the "discontinued" mark FORD has made on these cars. Kudos Dude.

Thanks to those who have placed orders already! I hope we can get a total of 50 - 60 orders between the three styles. There is really no reason why we shouldn't.

If there is a good enough response, there is a good chance of these becoming something that can be purchased down in the future. They certainly won't be avail. at this low of a price, but it is nice to know that future MN12 and FN10 owners will have these available to them. Please do you part to help keep these cars on the road :D

Maybe some of the folks don't realize the facts here.

Fact #1 - Your stock brake lines right now are junk. The stock rubber pieces are worn both externally and internally and it's only a matter of time when you'll have an issue with them. We had one guy here posting a few years ago that had the line come apart from the inside out.

Fact #2 - There is currently NO WHERE ELSE that you can get replacement stainless steel flexible brake lines for the SC. No where. No one makes them.

Fact #3 - This price is cheap. Yes that's right, cheap. You go to any shop that can make stainless steel flexible lines and try to get everything you're getting here for this kind of price. When this GP is over, it's never going to be cheaper and to be honest, nothing says these guys will bother to make anymore either.

Even if you don't plan to do brakes right now, it would be a wise move to scrape up some cash and get a set ordered and on your shelf. I don't think folks realize the benefit that lines like these can give to your car and it's brakes.

Does anybody know where we're at on numbers?

I'd like mine soon, I'm eating through my drivers rotor so the car's parked. I have cobra brakes waiting to go on and not enough time to mess with brakes twice.

Thanks for setting this up Thomas. We wouldn't have the option if you didn't go through the trouble AND get lucky finding a decent priced place to have these made.

I believe they're cheaper than the stock JUNK which is surprising, you just can't go wrong!

I started the install on my 91 but the lines seem to be a little tight and the routing has me a little worried.

At full left turn lock on the passenger side the line is pulled rather tight. Please note I haven't tightened everything down yet.
http://home.comcast.net/~hippy71/IMG_2915.JPG

Also the locating tab on the back of the caliper pushes the line into the swaybar end link ball joint.
http://home.comcast.net/~hippy71/IMG_2917.JPG
http://home.comcast.net/~hippy71/IMG_2916.JPG

Any suggestions?

BTW, have a propane tourch handy, the old lines are rather difficult to get off and the metal is rather soft. So rounding off the nut at the hardline is likely.

Kurt K
09-16-2006, 06:03 PM
hmmm, that explains why the stainless steel lines I already have on my car have an offset on the hose, and not straight like these are. I'm glad somebody found this so soon, as I won't be installing these lines for a very long time....maybe years.

RichM
09-16-2006, 06:47 PM
How is the new distribution block supose to mount?
http://home.comcast.net/~hippy71/IMG_2924.jpg

The fittings will not line up if you mount it using the attached mounting tab, and if you try to mount it so that the brake line tubing lines up the tab would be either through the sheet metal or in the way of the shock. At least for my 91.

Three lines in and now I'm stuck.

SuperChicken89
09-16-2006, 07:36 PM
Rich,

Installed mine on my 89 SC today and had the same problem on the left rear. The distribution block mounting bracket needs to be bent 90 degrees to make it work. I pondered the situation for a short time and bending the bracket was the only route I could see. I put in the vise, protected the one fitting side of the block that faced the vise's jaw, and gently bent the bracket with a pair of vise-grips. The bracket actually bends very easily. Just be careful that the bracket doesn't try to pull out of the block when you bend it.

I also thought the front lines seemed a tad bit short. I didn't have the clearance problem you have encountered though.

If you need a picture of the distribution block mounting, let me know and I'll take one tomorrow.

Good luck.

Bryan

Is that suspension uncompressed, thus at it's full extension? That's gonna be the most distance you ever see. when it's on the ground the position will be different.

I want to thank Thomas and Tom for putting this together. It is definitely a quality product at a great price.

Greetings,

I never imagined I would be here at SCCoA especially at this time. It is way past my bed time. Victor is a little bit under the weather. He is having a complete physical. We have the complete sets of these in our store. Victor felt he was going to use them all. I remember when he bought ALL of these. He has not installed one set yet due to his health issues. Pleas eMail me at spinningwheels-sc@earthlink.net or visit our store at www.spinniningwheels-sc.com we sell the complete sets there. Thank you!;)

Call the group buy peoples. I am sure they can get you a "replacement".

I already had stainless stell lines on the front of one of my cars, so when I ordered a set for my other car, I also ordered a set of just the rears. So, I'd definitely check with the vendor.

Will they work on a car with '00 Cobra R front brakes?

Yeah, after they had me get them several sets and swore that they weren't going to get them for resale.

Hi Thomas,
I thought since we were not going to use them all of them due to his health we would sell the ones we bought through the group buy.

People liked them, so we sell them and will continue to do so.

Victor is in the Hospital and so is his brother. What is wrong with selling what ever we want that is ours to sell.:)

We have a lot of our products that we find also being sold by others. I felt I should respond to this since he can't. Free enterprize;) Thomas Have a peaceful night.

Regards,

Diane and Victor

I have absolutely no problems with you selling them. I am a huge fan of free enterprise and capitalism. I just feel that someone wasn't completely honest with me. At any rate, I hope everyone gets to feeling better soon. Have a nice night.

I bought two sets right after Thomas started selling them, maybe two years ago, for my '95s. I have not installed them on either car yet, too busy with work/travel/deployment. Plan to install them in the spring on my one '95 SC that I still have. From what I understand from this thread, they are direct replacements for the OEM lines. Just remove the old lines and install these lines, then bleed the brakes. Is that right? How 'bout some feedback.

Not that it's a big deal, and just to be clear, but I never actually sold these. I just worked with the company to help get these developed. All sales and warranty issues are handled directly through Classic Tube.

There is a write up in the FAQ section here on the Forums about installation.

I don't know why, but I am locked out of a bunch of forums right now. I have emailed the website (SCGUYS), but they are slow to respond. As soon as I update my membership, I should be able to get in and review the installation instructions for those SS brakelines. Thanks,

FYI....if anyone wants to buy these kits, Classic Tube is still selling them. I ordered a kit for my 93 SC recently. $145 plus shipping and they arrived in about 1 week.
