Can anyone tell me, is it possible to get the glass out of a side view mirror to swap it into another one?
If so, how?

Dean, I think it is possible, Im trying to do the same right now as my passenger side mirror likes to shake pretty bad, I think if you remove the 2 screws under the housing that whole unit slids out and the mirror itself is just clipped in with 2 or 3 tabs, I have a spare in the garage that Im going to try this week to get undone , ill let you know.

According to the manual, here's how to remove the glass on a '90, but not sure on later years....
Mirror Glass Thunderbird/Cougar Removal and Installation
1. Push the inner edge of the mirror glass into the housing.
2. Grip the outer edge of the mirror glass and pull out until the glass snaps out of the motor assembly.NOTE: WHEN REMOVING THE GLASS, A SNAP WILL BE HEARD. THIS IS NORMAL AND DOES NOT MEAN THE DRIVING MECHANISM HAS BEEN DAMAGED
Installation 1. Install, line up the locking tabs of the mirror glass to the housing as shown.2. Firmly push the glass into place with the palm of the hand until it locks in.
