ok I had the engine rebuilt and thought everything was great my tensioner on he alternator is gone I need to know if its causing all these problems.
- at 70 km/h if you try to step on it or accelerate the rpms go up but the engine just spins like seems like belts slipping bad.
- CEL light is constantly on could this be caused because the alternator is not charging proberly? I had to boost the car today
- after driving for 25+ minutes my rpms sit at 2000 RPM in park the IAC is new so its not that could it be my TBS sensor I know that code kept coming up but the only time I notice the rpms is after driving for a bit.
I need to get these problems sorted out ASAP or someone can pick up the car from the bottom of lake Ontario :)

Sounds like the tranny is slipping in OD, time to start looking at a rebuilt or at least a used one that is known to be good.

I've never heard of the alternator causing a CEL but I could be wrong. I've got a couple of extra tensioners but you'd have to drive out to Hagersville to get them.

Just because something is new doesn't mean it ain't broke. Find a known good one and swap it out just to be sure. I also have an extra T/B that you could borrow to see if that cures your prob.

Interesting concept, sc turned submarine. Just extend the bottom IC tube out the bottom of the car and aim it back and you should be good to go

the tranny was recently rebuilt which is why I am so confused I ordered a new tensioner from ford yesterday should be here by friday the IAC is fien I just checked the voltage on my TBS is 5v so its to high would a new oen fix this or is there a easy way? I am gettign it towed to my mechanics today to get the tranny re checked but they had told me the belts are slipping.

You should see if one of the guys have one lying around you could try to see if thats the problem. Of course, double check what wires your measuring the voltage from because one is always at 5 volts, the other is for the sensed range from 0.98 to 5 volts and the other I believe is ground.
Wonder what Yellow Submarine sounds like through 50 feet of water....
Subs anyone

I may have marked the wrong one lol I am worried abotu this tranny I can;t afford another 1000+ repair right now bah lol it was rebuilt a week ago lol so I am going to kill the mechanic if its gone again.
I am giving it till friday to sort itself out lol
I will video tape the submarine.

Fraser is correct, a charging system issue probably won't cause a CEL, unless there isn't enough voltage to run the EEC system. The charging system has a separate warning light in the cluster. NA T-Birds had a voltmeter where the boost gauge is on an SC.

would my TBS keep setting off the CEL? I had the code erased on monday it was fine for a day then the light is back on? loose belts wouldn't cause the cel to go on would they?
and yes although it only seats 5 so some could be out of luck

I think it can cause a cel, but you need to pull the codes to be sure. I would say for now, is pull the battery cable and let the car sit for 15 minutes then plug it back in and start over again. Then we can go from there.
After you get the new idler pulley installed, do the same thing again... disconnect the battery and start from scratch. So don't scuttle the sub yet ;).

If your tbs is 5 volts something is wrong my first guess is you were taking the reading off the wrong wire. time to try it again.

lol ok ok so the tranny is fine no probs there the TBS is the prob I got code 125 for the voltage in the TBS so I am going to try and fix that.
Jeez bought the yellow paint for nothing

"TBS" stands for "Television Broadcast Service", I think. Are you wahoos talking about the TPS?! ;)
...Or DarkWhite, maybe your problem is you're checking the wrong thing, and you should step away from the television with the multimeter! :D
I hope you managed to get this solved.
Cheers,
Sean

I think everyone has been in Adam's shoes. I know I have few times. As Steve N. said SC teachers you patiance. When everything works well it's the best car on the road. I also know that it's the most addictive car I've had.

The key is to look at each failure logically. There's always a viable reason for any issue. Grasping at straws will always end up causing more grief. This board has the most knowledgable SC people on the planet. Listen to their comments.
It's tough when your SC is your primary ride and you need a fix yesterday to get to work today. You should consider getting a reliable beater (anything Japanese) as a daily. Then there's no panic when your SC needs work. SC parts are getting really rare and it usually takes a few days to get a piece. Jap scrap parts on on the shelf at Ukranian Tire.
