Purge solenoid direction

When I installed a new purge solenoid, on top it said ENG -->

I think i took that as the arrow points away from the engine... But I recently had one of my fuel lines blow off the pump, and i started thinking about that purge solenoid and now lookign back I'm thinking I probably have it reversed, and the arrow should be pointing towards the engine insted of away from it.... ?

could be....this way to engine. As in plug the hose that connects to the engine into this port.
