View Full Version : looking for pics of tinted birds

I am going to be tinting, well not me..., my bird soon and want to see the different birds and what looks best. in california you cannot tint the front windows. i usually drive with them down, and dont follow the law too to much.
So if anyone could post a few pics of their birds or cougs id appreciate it.
Id like to think 5% on the back three windows is good enough, but i cant imagine it actually would come out looking nice.
By the way my cars Dark plum, and has black interior. so it may seem dark enough from the outside without front tinted windows.
i am also in the process of getting ventshades for the front window. any pics of those would be cool.

i think thats what i want a matching tint. maybe 20% with a 5% back window? to make everything look darker.

Old pic when it was 5% and 20%
Now it is double 5% everywhere and 20 on the windshield
PS: And yes, I agree with Scott. I took my ventshades off after that picture, lol

I have 20% on the rear 3 and 35% on the doors. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture with the doors tinted, which were tinted most recently.
IMO, if you have to back up a lot at night, I wouldn't recommend anything darker than 20%. For me, even 20% seems a bit dark at times. Of course, I have to back mine into a very tight garage, so that might be why it's more of a concern to me.

I am partial to the ventshades. i like the look.
Looks great with the tint.
IN cali i cant tint the front two windows, but almost everyone whos tinted has the front tinted.
i dont back up alot, mostly park so i can drive straight out.
i like the 17% all the way around, 35% is to light for me, but probably wont get me pulled over.

i have to agree with kurt, i had the back 3 windows all at 5% and the front ones at 20%, i couldn't see anything at night, it was horrible, but it looked good. i shouldn't of went that dark. also the 5% on the back are turning purple as the front ones still look the same as they did. i guess the darker you go the easier it will discolor, so when i get my car on the road i have to get it redone and it will be 20% all around. 17% sounds good, im sure it will come out nice. about the ventshades, i have them on my bird (and my mazda). it looks ok to me, but i got them so i can have the windows open when it rains. when you are tring to turn left they can become annoying as it blocks your view.

i believe this is 16% or something. Its got that "shiny" tint to it from the outside so its hard to see in, but light enough that at night its not hard to see out of them (i have 5% all around on my mustang and it sucks with the windows up at night).

I have 30% on mine and regret getting it that light. I've been in cars with 5% and it sucks at night. 15-20% would be a nice comprimise.

I have 5% on mine and am used to it so I can see just fine at night. It took a while to get used to it and it was scary at first, but now its fine don't even have to stick my head out the window to back up. Just look before you get in the car make sure nothing is in your path.

to go with my purple car...:D
too rice.
anyone ever do something where they had a lighter tint, 35% and a nice 5% tint over it in a pattern?
like tint your back window, but put a Tbird logo over that tint in 5%. ghost bird...

I didn't do that, but on my front windows I have "etched" style vinyl graphics underneath the tint. The graphics are are just simply say "232" but the combination of the silver etching and the dark tint make them look MUCH better then if they were on top of the tint as opposed to sandwiched between it like they are

Too each his own. I am not fond of adhesive stuff, like ventshades, sunroof shades, rear solar wings, etc...
If you smoke then maybe they are nice to vent out the car if its raining, but I don't smoke and I don't let anyone smoke in my SC. Actually not many people get a ride in my car anymore except my girlfriend and I.

i think thats a combo of bad tint job, and the wrong shade for the red sc.
My car is a dark plumberry, so i thought darek tint would only make it cooler, to look at and sit in. thing get effin hot.

Window tinting has been on my list of things to do for a long time. I was once told that the 3M stuff is the best and it would not fade to purple. Any info on the different brands as far as durability?
I looked at the window tint law for Tennessee and they say 35% max but that is too light based on these posts and other cars that I have seen. I am thinking about 20% all around as I still want to consider the night driving.
Mike
I am one that does not like those window shade/vents, much too aftermarket look.

Wouldn't you like to be able to see through those windows?? Shame on me for having my windows tinted so dark :p

i wish i could go 5% all the way around. id be pulled over in no time man. only took me 2 weeks before i was cited for nightshades, 6moonths for no plates in front, tint...maybe never, but still.
in cali we cannot tint the frontr windows, pass and driver side. still people do it, but im not as luck as them as i drive a car known to the cops to usually house homeboys.
if it wasz a beemer or audi, might be different. but its a dark purple, with pin striping on the side, nightshades, and the tint would only make them waste more of my time...
thanks for those pics man.

Damon..
When you tell of your 'old' black SC... does that mean you don't have it anymore? That looks alot like mine... same tires... and mine was from NJ.

Its late, and upon looking closer, i dont think its my car... i dont have tint, or a spoiler.

SuperCB,
Whats the tint percent on the front windows. I think that looks best (to me) on a black SC. I want to tint my 95 LX the same way. I bought it with 3% Limo tint but maryland law fags dont allow above 35%.
Damon,
I will be stealing that hood off your car. The LX looks good with the cowl. I think the 94/94's look better with the cowl hood. I dont like it on the 93 now but hey its for sale so who gives a rats arse.

I don't know what % the tint is but it's the same on the back and two rear side windows. Full tint on the door windows and windsheild is illegal in Michigan also but that didn't stop a Michigan state cop from checking mine out. I got pulled over one bright sunny day buy said cop who told me he pulled me over for having headlight covers on my car which is also illegal in Michigan although that law is hardly ever enforced. Then this cops tells me roll your window up about half way which I did. He's put's his face real close to the glass and is looking it up and down so I tell him that's factory tint. He's say's I'll be the judge of that and was acting like a real A hole. I got wrote up for headlight covers and a licence plate cover that day. When I went the court house to pay the ticket the clerk tells me we hardly ever see these types of citations....cost me 80 bucks. What a dick..:)

i went ahead and got 20% i for the passenger and driver, and for the rear three, 5%.
looked good. when a cop pulled me over at 10pm for "racing" i pulled outa mess of paperwork, some photo copied tickets....one was for my mothers tinted bimmer. he took it as though i was going to tint my car...good guess.
fix it ticket for tint, and "Defective mufflers" $20 ppaid the fine, and got a friend to write the ticket off.
i guess no cats, resonator, and blown mgnaflows are too loud at wot :D
no racing ticket, i know the jerk cop from last year when he cited me for goingn 45 in a 25, even when i was just cruisin in to m driveway???
he never showed up when i went to fight it...
both of those cars are mine. the bagged one used to be owned by DDUBB. and the purple sc is in limbo bieng sold to my brother.
This is my burnout with no cats or resonator...not as loud as wot, but raspy and you get the picture...

I don't know why this old thread was resurrected, but...
That's the second bird I've seen that had paint on the plastic/rubber window trim. I do not like that. I saw a teal SC for sale and they painted the window trim teal and it just looked off.
The LX would look good with some chrome wheels.

07-07-2007, 06:28 PM
Yeah the idiots at the vocational school painted the window trim when the car was being painted, but at least it was free. I was going to replace all of the rubber.
I painted the lower half white, two toned .. and sold the car to Merlon last month. I still have 2 more birds through.

Genious idea from the vocational students....
Is that the bird in your avatar?

Same car as in my avatar, maybe I should change it now, hmmmm .. it WAS Performance White .. once upon a time ..
Then I painted Silver Racing stripes, then Blue racing stripes, then painted it back to White, then I had it painted Metallic Red Clearcoat, then I painted the lower half White for the Two tone .. was going to paint the whole car White, but I didnt have the new windows and trim and Merlon offered to buy it, soo ... its his to play with now. :D

chrome bullits.
but, ill probably just swap over the mille miglia rims from the sc...and scrap that paint off, and use some back to black. re tint the windows 20% all the way around. paint the car white. blue stripes of course, and new seats. then im done.

07-08-2007, 11:13 AM
Just re-paint or re-place it .. I already tried to use a pressure washer to get the paint off the rubber trim.
White with Metallic Blue racing stripes ... man that takes me back to like ... 2001.
