Just had to go buy another bird because My SC went down for a tranny and my bright arse decided to do some upgrades. Well its still sitting.
I bought a 95 LX 4.6, I love the car but the tranny shifts real sloppy. After doing some searching. Its normal and just another bit of Bird Dropping on me.
I was half tempted to sell the SC and whats left and sink it into the LX but than I slapped myself. Just hope the tranny holds out until the SC is done so I can then start yet another tranny/upgrade venture.

I know the feeling. I just sunk over $2500.00 in a tranny rebuild on my 90 but it runs good now. I got a 3 year warranty on the rebuild lets see how how it holds out. If your tranny is low miles and in good condiction I highly recommend a shift kit.

It has 106k on it and I am not sure how well the other owner maintained it. I assume not very well since he put AC delco plugs in.

Unless you or you know someone that's an expert on the tranny you have, the best thing you can do is take it to a respectable shop and have them review and make a recommendation. I seriously don’t like the stock valve body and the way it shifts. IMO it hurts the tranny with grandpa transitions from 1-2 2-3 3-4. I don’t know much about these tranny’s but the guy that did mine had 15 years rebuild experience and we talked quite a bit on what should and shouldn’t go into a street transmission. You might get several opinions here but I like what I have and they gave me a respectable warranty as well. If you want futher details please review “MY AOD Ended it's life (http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79614)“

Its been discussed in great length that the 94-95 4R70W in the MN12's was the worst of them all. If you get one past 100K you are lucky. I believe the truck 4R70W is a popular swap. I read about it on the other site. :)

Damon,
Are you saying the late model mustang tranny will bolt up to the 4.6. Is there another year tranny I should be looking for. Were the 96/97 any better and is it a direct swap.
