Maf?

Guys, the screen is there for a reason. Your sample tube needs the air straightening so that the sensor wire gets an accurate reading. People used to do this on camaros and trans ams all the time and they'd start to ping. You might not hear it over the sweet sound of SC. Aftermarket sensors don't have the screen because the sample tube is designed differently.

probably not. i also have heard it is there to keep small chickens and rocks from bieng sucked in.

My 90 had a screen on the stock 55mm MAF. I put a 70mm MAF on it from a 95 and just re-used my electronics. The car had a bit stronger pull above 3000 rpm. I think it even has the bridge removed out of it. I am going to just get a C&L 76mm maf and that should support my car for quite some time. I have a 70mm on my 92 and it doesn't have a screen.
