so what happens if you change to a 373 rear end & don't reburn the chip ?

The only thing that you need to do is install a new speedo gear. No chip reburn is really needed by just changing gears. The only reason that you would maybe want to is to optimize your shift points. Other than that, it's pretty much a bolt in. It will not affect your a/f ratio which is the biggest reason to burn a chip.

According to his member page, it's a '94 auto.

Must tell you it does matter i have a 1995 sc with 3.73 gears and it is an auto and it does shift early and also will only top out at about 100 miles hour.
So you should get a chip reburn it you dont want to replace your tranny.
