For the guys that have gone the route of 351W BLOCK, Does it have the same mounts as a 302? Where there any major pains? What header and exhaust system did you go with?
 
302 mounts should bolt up, but headers and the front of your exhaust will have to be custom fabricated I think.

This is generic info from other swaps, I haven't swapped anyhing into a MN-12 body.

302-351W mounts, bellhousings and timing cover are all the same bolt patterns. The 351W oil pan is deeper so often a 1/2" spacer is required to lift the motor to clear the oil pan from any crossmember. This can be done a simply as using washers between the motor mount and the block (2 bolts, each side).

302 and 351 heads are near twins so the exhaust flange is the same. 302 headers will bolt onto a 351W and occaisionally will work with the chassis they are desined for. Any problems are with the added height and width of the 351W. This used to work fine on many low headers for older (60s-70s) Mustangs and such but I can't say for the MN12. Exhaust manifolds are usually an easy swap, requiring only a spacer to widen the Y-pipe if used.

Will I will be going to a worked 302 for ease of install. Not worried about wiring as will be going with a Holley 650 double pumper. Will be saving the 351W for another day. Traded a 93 ford escort with a blown trans for the 302 minus ignition and carb.
 
If you need teh engine swap harness My freind has one that he had made by windsor fox to put a 351 in his 89 SC..everything is labled brand new with instructions..In case you getteh urge

Do you mean to run fuel injection on the 351W? What injection would it use? You got me curious.
 
The harness uses stock 9al eec mustang computer..Distributer would be from a fuel injected truck...modify stock mustang lower fuel rail to fit a gt40 lower 351 specific..As a matter of fact my freind still has the gt40 lower 94-95 cobra upper as well as the 351 shortblock from DSS..Unlike you he gave up the car and kept the parts :O)..You can use that same harness for a 302 as well
