ok so latley since my last repair of fixing the TPS when the car is cold I get a real hard startign issue and sometimes have to hit the gas to get it to start up, but when I put the car into reverse or drive or even turn the steering when stoped the car wants to stall out like the RPM's drop below 400 and it shakes like its ready to die sometimes it will if I don;t rev up the engine as I ~~~~, this only happens when the engine is cold when its warmed up it seems to be running fine.
here is the thing when I unplug the IAC the car dies out, I have cleaned the MAF and some TB cleaner and cleaned the IAC ( was careful) but I am still getting this problem dumb question could it be the cats? i notice a slight rattle under acceleration sometimes but not all the time.
I am only posting on here because I have no clue what is going on with this car and I had planned to make it out to barrie this weekend :)
any help would be great
Thanks again guys
EDIT: how accurate are our oil pressure gauges mine seems to be alll over but my oil level is good and notice no other problems or leaks.

Sounds like it could be a vacuum leak, did you have anything apart that may not have gone together tight? If you did spray some brake clean around the areas that you did take apart to see if you notice a difference in idle. Even if it didn't try that around all the sc joints and intake etc.

I don't think it's your cats...sounds more like vacuum leak like Eric posted.

Make sure no one accidentally poked a hole in your IC.

lol I am not selling :P I am going to look for a vac leak this morning and check it but my vac on the gauge is perfect its about 18-19 at idle but not that u mention it when I shut of the car and its re pressurizing I can hear a hissing of air from around the TB an its not a honk though

Everytime I have hear someone saying they cleaned the IAC it turns out its toasted.... and if your hearing that hissing sound from there I wouldn't be surprised.
As for the oil gauge, its either on or off, and I think its on when you have more than 5psi. The fluctuations you get are voltage changes and not oil pressure changes. There is a mod you can do to make it behave like the real deal, but you need to change out the oil pressure sending unit and do a little soldering on the gauge cluster.

turns out the hissing I hear is the by pass valve when it closes when I shut the car off turns otu my problems was my TPS sensor still but I managed to get it reading 1.1 so I figure thats better then 5 volts lol
so I managed to fix it :) although my rpm is 700-900 at idle but thats because I had adjusted the idle last week and am to lazy to re adjust it :P

lol well I figured I have dirty injectors which would cause the hard starting issue is there an easy way to clean them without removing them?
EDIT: By the way that heynes Repair manual helps out alot so much info in there

Have you got any idea as to how your injectors could get so dirty so fast as to have these symptoms just pop up all of a sudden?
...Either you physically contaminated them, like perhaps if you had the fuel rail removed recently??? ...Or you've just recently got some really bad gas and some dirt managed to get past your fuel filter to the injectors???
I don't have much faith that your problem is dirty injectors. You might have injectors that could use a cleaning, flow-testing and balancing. I'm sure many SC's could benefit from that. However, I don't think that alone is causing this latest problem.

would a coolant leak cause the shakes? seems that where my upper rad hose goes into the engine I got a small leak, was my fault guess I didn't seal it up to well after changing the rad out lol
and I got the car starting fine again dunno what I did lol I think I have a vac leak at my by-pass valve though still need to check that

No, I don't see a coolant leak causing the engine to misfire or run rough, unless you've overheated the engine. If you've got a leak where the upper rad hose goes onto the thermostat housing, you should just need to tighten up the hose clamp. If you've got a leak where the thermostat housing bolts to the front of the lower intake manifold, then it's possible you've over-torqued the two bolts that secure it there, which may have warped the thermostat housing. If this is the case, you'll need to try to make that mating surface true again, and re-seal it with a new gasket and some RTV sealant. ...You have to be very careful tightening those two bolts, or you will warp the thermostat housing. Many people here, including myself have done this in the past.
Back to 'the shakes'... Have you checked the plug wires? Are they all fastened to the plugs and the coil pack securely? What about the plugs themselves? Have you checked to make sure you haven't cracked one?

Sean

Sounds like you need to take a look at your motor mounts. If they have been replaced recently, you still need to look to see if they are split or not. Your stumble sounds like the mounts are shoot, and that lowers the engines posistion some, causing the oil pan to rub on a P/S line and can lead to what have mentioned.
NEVER USE TB cleaner, NEVER on your SC. Didn't you just replace your IAC?

yah and the plugs and wires are ok and yah ryan I bought the IAC from you :P so I dunno the mounts seem fine to me only shakes when cold
and the leaks are coming from the thermo housing so I think ur right about the overtighten bolts I drove it from uxbridhge to mississauga today and didn;t notice it leaking or any over heating but I see burnt coolant from there.
whats the proper torque on them?
I went to go buy anti freeze today to keep topping it up if it is leaking but I was so confused lol they had pre mixed and just normal I wasn;t sure what to go with.
