Thermostat ??

I've heard here in the forum that replacing a stock thermostat with a 180-degree unit (without modifying the fan circuit), will cause the engine to run hotter. Can someone please explain why? Why would a car run hotter if the 180-deg. thermostat opens sooner than a 195-deg? I would think that the car would run cooler, but the effect seems to be the total opposite. WHY??

the coolant passes thru the radiator faster and does not have time to cool before returning to block. remove the thermostat and watch how fast and hot it gets. get a eec tuner to control the low and high speed fan with a 180 thermostat and you will have it made in the shade.
