Found My Problem.....

A few weeks ago, I posted info on my '95 SC 5spd running poorly and dying at idle. I changed alot of parts with known good ones to no avail.

Problem turned out to be poor seal at the SC top and the upper tube. Previous owner had used a some kind of thin black sealer that let go. The more I drove, the worse things got. Even though the top and tubes looked tight, they weren't. Removed, cleaned and resealed with copper RVT.

It's amazing that the least little vacume leak will make these cars run like the motor is gonna blow through the hood.

Still have a slight miss, but have to do plugs and wires anyway.

Moral: Don't rule out the obvious when checking for a vacume leak.

Thanks again for the replys and the help.

Mark, did you put the raised top on or put the stock one back?

Glad you got it figured out. Vacuum leaks on these cars can be a killer.

mmmmmmmmm......bubblegum smell!! Better than Co2.

Got on it good tonight - as they say "Runs like a raped ape!"

Now to finish the interior and get the exhaust done.
