I need a 4r70w for my 94 sc. I'm in St.Louis but I can pay for shipping if the price isn't to crazy. Mine pops out of gear on the freeway and downshifts quite a bit but will hold 1st and 2nd if manually in gear. Tired of erratic shifting and can't afford a rebuild. Thx

DUDE I dont mean to be critical but it might be better if you post this request in the catagory of " WANT TO BUY" you probably will get a better response just trying to help.:)

Why rebuild or buy another early model 4r70w? Sounds like you have an automatic. Check out this thread.

You should be able to find a 99+ locally that you can use as you do not have to have an '03.

I dont think it will bolt up, unless of course the bellhousings can be removed from the transmission but the '93 MarkVIII that I am parting out has the 4R70W transmission in it. The guy I got the car off of said it was new but I have never driven the car to conferm this. I will let it go cheap, makw me an offer if your interested.

The 3.8L and 4.6L bellhousing bolt patterns are different, and the bellhousings are integral to the trans case (not removable).

Hi
I am getting close to deciding to swap from my auto to 5Spd in my 95 SC.
My car has 30K original miles, The transmission has a bauman shift kit at level II, and the recommended upgades done at that time (20K ago).
I am not in a rush, not yet FULL decided but if someone were interested in buying this transmission that might push me over the edge.
I am in Toronto postal code M8Z 2T7, it would weigh around 250lbs on a skid.
I have no current ideas of a price just yet.

Before you swap out the tranny, you might want to swap the MLPS. This is the sensor that tells the tranny what position the shifter is in. They go bad and cause erratic downshifts. Here is a link with more info:

Hopefully this will correct the problem and save you some $$$.

Thanks for the info I'll try the mlps sensor and see if that helps. About the tranny in toronto, let me know if you want to sell the tranny,we might be able to work something out.
