gears

correct, 5 speeds received 2.73 gears. i installed 3.27 from an auto car. i run about 600 rpm higher now when driving the same speed before. i would double that for the 3.55. i'm considering putting the 2.73's back in since i do so much highway driving now.

You may find that 3.55 is just too much gear for a 5 speed SC, especially in first ... you'll be shifting up to 2nd about 10 feet into the intersection. Most people go with 3.27 ratio with the 5 speed with a fairly stock motor, some are even going back to 3.08 ratio when they have a bunch of motor work done with extra HP. I have 3.27 in my 95 5-speed, I wouldn't want any more than that. It revs at about 2300 rpm in 5th at 75 mph. Accelerates hard in 5th now, don't need to downshift to 4th to get going.
