Ok, so im just now getting back into the sc scene again. This is my third go round. I must say that dont know all of the technical talk anymore. There is way more modifiications available now than there were on my second go round (1998-99ish). Im a master automoble tech of 14 years, but im confused about a few things. I bought a 1990 sc auto. the motor is blown and i got it for really cheap. In the past three weeks ive managed to get the shortblock finished(new pistons, rings, rods, polished crank) The heads are going to the machine shop next week for port job, I bought a s-port blower, and i need to know if i need a new lower intake?? Arnt the ports different? Is it the square port that i need(mine is oval on the intake. I dont physically have the blower yet, i just bought it yesterday. Next question- what cam and torque convertor to run. My last sc i put the stage one coy miller cam (505 lift 230 duration) it loped like crazy, idled rough and surged at red lights because i had the stock converter. it ran good with the ported heads and cam, but the idle drove me nuts because of the converter. Im sure the cam profiles have changed alot over the years. Next is what to do about fuel delivery and control. Im thinking 42lb injectos and a 255 pump. What about throttlebody? Is 75mm too much. I dont want idle problems!!im looking to make near 350-400 horse. One more thing- exhaust- the car already has a new catback 2.5 flow master system. What do i do about the mid-pipe. Is there a y-pipe avail or should i have one made. Should i run cats? State inspection isnt a problem Sorry about all the questions, but its better and cheaper to ask??right? Im also rebuilding the aod transmission and rear axle next week (auburn posi, new bearings,373 gear) Dave

the lower intakes are all the same 89-95.the early model blower(89-93)had an oval port, late model(94-95)had a rectangular port.if you have an s-port blower you'll need to get either a mp 85mm intake plenum or a 94/95 intake plenum as they both have the rectangular port.if you're shooting for 350-400 hp definitely go with the mp unit.the gurus on this site say a 75mm tb is good for 400 hp i believe and make sure your mafs is as big or bigger than your tb.the injectors and fuel pump you're going to use might be big enough to support 400 hp.get a set of cat delete downtubes from either texas thunderbirds or super coupe performance, you won't regret it.as far as cams and torque convertors go i don't have any personal experience with them to give you any info.sounds like you want to build a monster, keep us up on the progress.......keith

yeah im looking to make some power, im just not sure exactly what kind of power im gonna get. Thanks for the info on the plenum and down pipes. I saw those pipes on the texas t-bird site, but wasnt sure if that would work with the catback? ill get the mp plenum i guess...any guess on price?? im leaning toward a stage two cam and 2800 converter, im just hoping the car will hook? My last car wouldnt do anything but melt the tires out of the hole. stoplight to stoplight drag racing was out of the question. Ive read about installing an airbag in the right rear, im assuming to fight rear axle deflectionor suspension deflection under load. Had the same problem in 03 cobra and that was supposably the fix(it axle hopped alot). Keith you think 42 injectors are enough?. if not 50's are the same price...

go with the 50's to be safe, victor at sc spinning wheels has the mp plenums for about $450.i have a set of texas thunderbirds downtubes on my 94sc and love them, they fit like a glove.they're 2 1/4" but if you want 2 1/2" tubes get them from super coupe performance.

Keith, i see you made your own fmic. I think im definetly going to have to do something with the stock i/c. Im gonna be creating some serious intake air temps, dont you think? Whered you get the stuff and exactly what did you get? What size cooler? How in the world did you bend the i/c tubing? Where did you get the tubing from? Couplings? clamps? Dave...

ebay item #290041570162 Check out this intercooler...tell me what you think. I think i would need the inlet/outlet on the same side right?

on my black 94sc i have a double i/c with a fan and fan shroud,on the 89sc i've been working on i deleted the a/c,centered the radiator in the support and added a huge front mount i/c mounted to the front of the support ,that way it's about 4" away from the radiator and won't pick up any heat from the radiator.i'm going to mount a 12" puller fan to the back of the i/c for additional cooling plus it'll help cool the rad. too.i'm lucky to have a friend who's a master welder.he's been welding all my stuff together as i fab it up.the i/c and piping kit i bought off of ebay.the i/c core is 20"x12"x4" and flows 1200 cfm and the pipes are 3".they give you different degree bends and you have to make it work.it took me awhile but it's almost done now.it sure looks trick but we know it don't matter what it looks like but how it performs.unless you delete the ac it will be difficult to run the pipes but it can be done,do a search for pics.without the ac condensor you could plumb your pipes where the i/c bellows was and use an i/c with the inlet/outlet on the same side.i wish i would have done it like that but to late in the game to change now.here'a a few pics of my setup.i'm pulling the pipes off this weekend to get welded up.

yeah im wondering if i should just do the double i/c with a fan. looks like it would be easier. i def wanna keep the a/c. Do you think by keeping both inlet and outlet on driverside i could make it work with a condenser. Then i might run into overheating issues, huh? Which defeats the purpose of the i/c in the first place. I am trying to order a 3.5 cai today, so i can get my induction completed. I think im gonna go ahead and run a ported 95 inlet for now instead of the mp inlet. I know its gonna cost me about 15-20hp but i can do that later. im not up to paying that kind of money for a freaking inlet!! Hopefully i will find one cheaper down the road. Im gonna port the 95 and see what i get. What tb should i get? 75mm with the 95 inlet work ok? You said make sure the maf was larger than the tb. I know one thing, im spending a fortune. Along with everything ive got for the engine, ive got a complete rebuil,d kit for the trans, most of the hard parts, rear differential, bearings and gears, all new suspension for the front, struts, tie rod ends, sway links, rack and pinion, rear shocks. Once i get the drivetrain and suspension done, ive got to tackle the brakes (hard pedal, both lights on) i havent even looked to see if its the pump, accunulator, or pump relay yet. Ive got a new abs module, but i never get that lucky. Then ive got a complete stereo system to install. Head unit, all speakers, two amps, and the sub(had this stuff for my other bird) Man, ive got a long way to go.....Dave

do some more research on this site but i think a 75mm tb should be big enough and a 76mm c&l mafs is a good choice just when you get it make sure you get the proper size sampling tube to match your injector size.the mafs doesn't have to be larger but definitely not smaller. the ac condensor runs across the opening i was talking about so unless you run the pipes down and under the frame rails and back up it won't work.i have a 94' sc intake plenum i've already ported for a 75mm tb that i used before i got my 85mm mp unit, you can have it for $50.where are you located at dave?i live in the london bridge section of the beach by rk cherolet.also every sat. until it gets freezing a few of us thunderbird fanatics go up to jenros on independence blvd. for the car meet.all kinds of bad a$$ rides up there so come on out and meet the gang.look for the group of t-birds around 4:30 or so.....keith

well i dont know too much about the supercoupe, Ive torn 2 down to bare block but im not familar with intercoolers and superchargers and what not, but Car audio is speaking my language. If you need any help or parts lemme know. I ran my own installation/ custom fabbing buisness for a while.looking a t my car right now you would never know, I have taken EVERY piece of my old setup out because i was loosing hearing, and I have outgrown the really loud phase. If you go out to jenros tommorow come find me and say whats up .

keith, i ll buy that inlet from you. Bring it with you to jenros tommorrow. Dude, ive been going tp jenros since i was about five, me and the old man used to go there when it was on the opposite end of the shopping center. Black4point6, didnt catch your name. Ive got the new jvc avx2 in dash cd/dvd player, 5x7 jbl power series p8652's (all four), two phoniex gold amps, one four channel, and one mono block d-class for the sub. Havent made a choice on the sub yet. i had a 12w7 in my mustang last year. that thing was ridiculous. I was seriously scared the rear glass was going to shatter!! Im leaning toward another jl-audio 12w7 or a cerwin vega stroker sub. I guess ill see you guys tommorrow night. Ill be driving a white 89 sc look a like (3.8l n/a 60k orig miles), or an red 4-door f-350 deisel....Dave
