Hi,

Today I got everything off concering replacing a wiper motor on my '89 SC. I have posted 3 pictures descriping my questions... What i saw was a modified? wiper engine wich was done by one of the previous owners (pic 2). A spare (which happens to be locked up and no good use at all :( pic 1), has a different connection. When i bought this from someone on e-bay he said it was from 89!

pic 2 http://skylark.allhyper.com/thunderbird/wp2.jpg
pic 3 http://skylark.allhyper.com/thunderbird/wp3.jpg

Got confused what wires (colors) and connectors are really used for a stock 89 wiper engine. Mine has a 5 pin male on the engine (pic 2). Another spare one, same year? has a 3 pin male on the engine, and a 3 pin male on the side (pic 1).

Any light in this mysterious wiper engine problem is appreciated :) A picture of a 89 wiper engine + a shot of the connectors / wires is more then welcome.

Pictures #1 and #3 look like the 89-93 wiper motors that I'm used to...maybe the strange one is from a 94-95? or maybe another car? Do you see a part number beginning with an "F" anywhere on the strange one?

It's not from a 94..
here's a picture of one.
the one that was on your car was probally the correct one
the replacement was probally incorect.

there are two differnt wiper motors for 89 to 93. I have two 89's and one has a motor with two connectors and one has one connectors. ford must have used two different motors.

yeah thats what i thought, what i found was with 1 connector (5pins), and another spare (same period) has 2 (3 & 3 pins).

Though the connectors on the first pic is different then what i have on my car :(
i think previous owner wanted to use a 1 connector wiper eninge (pic2) while the car has wiring harness for a 2 connector wiper engine.

Yes, 93 is different from 1989 through 92. Must have changed along with the brake system. Even the mounting plate is different, it would be a challenge to even bolt up a early motor into a late model, or as I tried, a late model into an early model.

I ended up just buying a replacement from the parts store.
