Changing the differential oil soon...i want to know which is best or which one is more recomended as well as how much to use. IM getting a bottle of friction modifier from ford...but how much of that do I add to the differential oil? Also, any suggestions to keep in mind for this job? Thanx!

Here's what I was told

maybe someone else can confirm it.
80-90 Valvoline and Ford Motorsports friction modifier.
It'll probably hold just about 2 quarts, maybe a little less.
hope this helps, it was from a raceshop that set up my 4.10

I'm using Redline 75W-90. It already has the friction modifier in it, so I didn't need to add any. It's working fine for me - I have an aftermarket diff (Eaton posi), but I'd guess it would work just as well with a stock unit. You will need a pump to get the oil out/in through the fill hole, can get one for a few bucks at any parts store.

Thanx a bunch guys...I ended up using Valvoline DuraBlend synthetic blend 80w-90. I put in a 4oz bottle of ford friction modifier and a bit over 1 1/2 bottles of that valvoline gear oil...wich is right about the 3.25 pints that you mentioned. Again, thanx a bunch!
