i finally got off my lazy butt and started putting the 89sc back together. hopefully by the end of the week or so i'll be able to start it up and see if i've fixed all the leaks and how the new fmic works, my fingers are crossed right now on the outcome.

Looks good Keith! How hard does it look like the driver side plugs are to get to?

12-10-2006, 11:34 AM
mike, it takes about 5 minutes to loosen the t-bolts and remove both i/c tubes and then there's enough room to fit a mac truck in.....lol today i'm going to switch the 10% pulley from the 94 and put it on the 89 blower and put the 89 pulley on the 94 like yours. i'm also going to wire the 12" i/c fan to a toggle switch and finish up mounting the radiator in the new center location then call it a day. at the rate i'm going it'll be 2008 by the time i'm done....lol

Keith,

Did Cleave make the inteercooler pipes for you?

They look great nonetheless!

Well now that you got the pipes painted nice and black. Your gonna have to remove them from the 89 and install them on the black 94:) It looks like they would look killer on the Black car...not that they dont look good on the 89 though....

anthony, i bought the universal i/c tube kit off of ebay and cut and pieced them together and then had cleve weld them up, that's one welding son of a gun. dave i like the ac on my black car so i couldn't put the fmic on it because it's made for ac delete. i should be able to fire it up today after i finish up a few things, i hope it works....lol keith

:D well i got it put together and started it up and guess what, it ran hoorah!! i still had an oil leak coming from somewhere under the drivers side, i couldn't see where it was coming from because it was too dark outside.when i get home tomorrow i'm gonna check it out but at least i know the fmic is working. here's a couple of pics if you can see them, kinda dark, i'll take some better ones tomorrow....keith

Looks great, But is that upper rad hose too close to the intercooler crossover pipe? Wouldnt want a hole in a hose...May be the picture angle though....

nickleman60

there'a about 3/8" between the two, i think that's plenty of room.

i finally had a chance to check for that leak and i'm relieved that it wasn't oil but power steering fluid. my fear was that because the motor mounts were shot when i got it, i thought it might have a hole in the oil pan. while i was changing the mounts i inspected it as good as i could but you never know til you start it, well it's ok. another issue with collapsed mounts is the power steering line getting pinched on the cross member, i doesn't look like i got lucky in that area but i'd much rather replace a line than remove the oil pan.i'll just keep pluggin' along til everything done and this $500 car is at $2000 and counting, i hope it's worth it.....lol

Well Keith I thought id make you feel a little better, since my 500.00 car that ive owned less than 75days is up well over 7000.00 .....and still counting

nickleman60

dave is that all in motor or have you bought some other things?

frdlvr30
12-17-2006, 10:34 PM
Well, ive got about 4300.00 in the motor so far... 1200.00 in the tranny... 700.00 in the rear end...the rest is various other things. I havent paid the guy for the porting work yet, and i really dont know what thats gonna total out to be. Ive still got about 2500.00 to go i figure...then i gotta but tune it...so...well see The only reason ive only spent this much is because im building everything myself. The only thing im not doing is the head work...obviously

well today i fiddled around with the 89' figuring i fix the power steering leak. being the dumbass:confused: i can be sometimes, i checked the powering steering fluid i had filled up the other day and it was still full. i'd been running the car some so i knew it should be low but it wasn't so back to a looking for a oil leak. i jacked up the car, started it and crawl underneath it and found the leak:rolleyes: it's amazing what a flashlight can find:rolleyes: the oil sending unit was leaking bad but you really couldn't see where it was coming from up top of the motor, damn thing ain't leaking ~~~~ now.....lol

thats good that you found it, oil leaks are a bitch to track down.

oil sending unit???

Seems that was brought up earlier

nickleman60
12-24-2006, 09:04 AM
yeah it was but from the top of the motor looking down you couldn't see any oil coming from it although it was leaking pretty bad, but a $13 sending unit is a whole lot cheaper than a ps pressure hose and a whole lot easier to change so i'm thrilled to death....lol

now that all the motor stuff is taken care of i think now i'm going to delete the f*&%# up abs system. it seems pretty simple and straight foward so i'm gonna give it a try...yahoo.....lol

a junction block for front brakes off a 92/93 crown vic

when i searched threads from that member "svo" he included the block, yesterday i stopped by pic and pull to locate the correct parts and they do have what i need. i'm not buying the stuff new as i'm trying to keep the cost down. with half price days this weekend i figure the parts should cost me about $20, so is the first weekend in jan. 07 good ? been starting the 89 everyday and letting it run for a few minutes but went to start it yesterday and it cranked but wouldn't fire, check for fuel pressure at the schrader valve with the key turned on and no pressure. checked the fuel pump fuse and pushed the reset in the trunk but still nothing so that's as far as i've gotten. when you turn the ignition on i don't hear the pump energized, just to make sure it wasn't something else i sprayed a little starting fluid in it and it fired up. what do you think?

Sounds like your pump took a dump.

check the pink and black wires going in and out of the fuel shut-off switch. there should be power going in and out of that switch for two seconds when the key is cycled on..if there is no power in...check fuses and both the eec relay(brown) and fuel pump relay (green). if it does have power in and not out... disconnect the connector from the shut-off switch and jump the two pins in the connector with a peice of wire...if it has power in and out of the switch...you need a pump...my suggestion is not to use a used pump...buy a new one

or you could try the shadetree method....turn the key on...and beat on the tank and see what happens...
