Crank Sensor

question:

Is it possible to advance spark timing slightly by moving the crank sensor a little in the right direction without hurting the engine or pcm?

No

Sorry, but I don't think that will work. The crank sensor has a slot in it and the 3 vanes on the"sensor ring" mounted on the back side of the balancer pass through the slot. Moving the sensor would not change the "hall effect" produced by the vanes passing through the sensor.

Nope! The crank sensor simple counts the revolutions of the 3 openings in the thin "disk" thingy attached to the harmonic balancer.

I wouldn't jack with it, you'll break it.

Does not the EEC use the crank pos sensor to set the timing? So if you were to move the sensor you would fool the EEC and manually change the timing. I wouldn’t jack with it, use an EEC tuner if you want to change the timing.

The crank and cam sensor must agree as to the engine timing. If you move the crank sensor you will have to readjust the cam sensor.

Like everyone else says, don't mess with it or you'll end up with a lot of problems.
The computer will tune out most of your changes anyway
